| | Chickenfoot CD (2009) Digipak
Lost Summer CD music
$14.09 In true old-school "supergroup" fashion, Chickenfoot is a hard-rock dream team. Composed of vocalist Sammy Hagar (Montrose, Van Halen), bassist Michael Anthony (Van Halen), drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, the combo grew out of a few impromptu jams, but the combination was judged strong enough to record an album and go on tour. The resulting disc is a full-throttle, unapologetic rock record, brimming with ...
| | Michael Jackson Invincible CD (2001)
Lost Summer music CDs
$10.89 "You Rock My World" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
The question for a 42-year-old Michael Jackson heading towards the end of 2001 was whether or not the self-proclaimed King Of Pop could make his presence known on the charts after having spent much of the '90s laying low. If the chart-topping position achieved by INVINCIBLE is any indication, then the answer is a resounding yes. The album is primarily produced by Jersey wunderkind Rodney Jerkins, and Jacko wasted no time tapping other top-flight artists and knob-twirlers to help out, including Teddy Riley, Babyface and R.Kelly.
Michael pulls out all the stops here, whether peppering the opener "Unbreakable" with his trademark falsetto and a posthumous rap from the Notorious B.I.G, or recruiting guitar great Carlos Santana to contribute some tasty playing to the Latin slow-burn of "Whatever Happens." Elsewhere, comedian Chris Tucker contributes some high speed patter to the groove-heavy, piano-driven hit single "You Rock My World," ...

| | Jacksons Destiny CD (1978) Bonus Tracks
Lost Summer CD music
$10.79 After DESTINY'S opening thumping baseline, funky guitar chords, and Michael Jackson's hiccuping "heeee-heee-heeee," there's only one sensible thing to do--blame it on the boogie. Or blame it on the Jacksons' 1978 platinum-selling album for being so damn good. The tenor of the times was finally right for the band, and everyone involved is on top form. With songs all written and produced by the Jacksons, the emphasis is on booty-shaking music with heart and real soul. Within a year Michael Jackson's OFF THE WALL album, on the charts for 52 weeks, would make him a force to be reckoned with. But on DESTINY, Michael's passion and desire is palpable, giving the album its real power and edge.
Besides "Blame it on the Boogie," DESTINY also features the disco-combustible "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)." Just about all the songs here are superlative, with standouts including Michael's delicately displayed anguish on the tender "Push Me Away," and the ...

| | Smog River Ain't Too Much To Love CD (2005)
Lost Summer album
$12.75 Like fellow southern singer/songwriter Will Oldham, Bill Callahan (AKA Smog) has been moving steadily over the course of his career toward a more straightforward musical approach. Whereas some of Callahan's earlier efforts were concerned with fractured song structures and experiments, 2005's A RIVER AIN'T TOO MUCH TO LOVE finds him at his most appealingly direct. Like most Smog albums, this one is stripped down (comprised mainly of Callahan's guitar and voice augmented by violin, piano, and light percussion), but the writing is particularly honest, intimate, and revealing.
That A RIVER AIN'T TOO MUCH TO LOVE was recorded in Willie Nelson's Pedernales Studios may have something to do with its rustic simplicity; it is rootsier and more country-inflected than any previous Smog album. A slow-motion country treatment ...
