With LIFE AFTER CASH MONEY, former Hot Boy B.G. issued the post-mortem for his tenure on the legendary high-rolling label for which he worked ever since his pre-teen Prince of Rap days. For his follow-up Koch release, THE HEART OF THA STREETZ ... Full DescriptionVOL. 1, he dives into his new life re-christened B. Gizzle. B.G. is patently in touch with who he is, setting the tone dispassionately on the title track, a philosophical reflection on street life.
B.G. has a knack for merging an absolutely hardcore view on life with a sinisterly melodic background, laying it all out with a raw, languid swamp drawl. B.G. rapped through a Southern haze long before it was the style, and the murkily alluring "Fool Wit It" and the eerie "Where Da At" (with a hypnotic heartbeat breakdown) remind us of how the products of his "pinball mind" work. When he gets energized, as he does talking about his home on "Chopper City," the effect is powerful. Overall, THE HEART OF THA STREETZ VOL. 1 succeeds on the merits of the easy confidence at the center of B.G.'s persona and style.

Heart Of Tha Streetz album
$12.09 This is the defining album of East Coast crime rap, which was largely established by the Brooklyn-based Boot Camp Clik of MCs. ENTA DA STAGE is a classic in its genre, featuring deep-in-the-crates beats by DJ Evil Dee (who continues to have a presence in New York's underground hip-hop scene), lurid street imagery delivered by MCs Buckshot and 5T and a flavor forever reminiscent of early-'90s New York.
As much a social phenomenon as a congregation of MCs and DJs, the Boot Camp Clik spawned Smif-N-Wesson (who later changed their name to Cocoa Brovaz after the arms manufacturer commenced litigation), Heltah Skeltah and the Originoo Gunn Clappaz. ...
| | Lean On Me: The Best Of Bill Withers CD (1994) Remastered
Heart Of Tha Streetz CD music
$7.59 Although Bill Withers went into a self-imposed musical exile following the release of 1985's WATCHING YOU WATCHING ME, his influence has quietly lived on. He's been covered by Club Nouveau ("Lean on Me"), Me'Shell NdegeOcello with "Who Is He (And What Is He to You)," by Paul McCartney with "Ain't No Sunshine" and has been the beneficiary of a Mick Jagger and Lenny Kravitz duet ("Use Me"). Will Smith and Austin Powers have both referenced him ("Just the Two of Us"), while the Gap has based a highly successful commercial around 1977's "Lovely Day."
This compilation contains the originals of these classics along with a number of lesser-known nuggets that meld R&B, funk, jazz and folk ...
| | Bill Withers Just As I Am CD (1971) DualDisc
Heart Of Tha Streetz music CDs
$15.69 This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.
One of the sacred texts of 1970s R&B (not to mention '70s pop), JUST AS I AM goes toe to toe with STILL BILL for the lofty position of being Bill Withers's best album. It features Withers's unique blend of pop, gospel, and soul, filtered through an acoustic-guitar-based singer/songwriter sensibility. The two big hits (the lovelorn "Ain't No Sunshine" and the bittersweet, nostalgic "Grandma's Hands") are staggering enough, but ...

Heart Of Tha Streetz music CDs
$11.39 The prolific Mississippi-born entertainer "NEMESI" is definitely in the house. He is not new to the game and the game is not new to him. He has been involved and collaborated on many successful projects and continues steady progress within the Rap commune. It was in Europe that "NEMESI" first explored his passion for music and acting. He was living in Europe in 1993 when he recorded "Move" and "What Am I Here For" on a T.O.C. project with Annika Klar, Andreas Fischert, and JÜrgen Herbarth. The same year he wrote and performed "For Your Love". He continued to tour while in Europe and appeared in several music videos.Since his time in the European theatre "NEMESI" has been able to successfully merge his two passions. While working on a project with Set 4 Life Entertainment, he starred as "David" in the independent film, "Looking Down ...
