Still a great player! Jake has been around for a long time. Every time I hear something new from him I get chills. Hhis approach is always original even if he is doing cover tunes for this album. His playing is unmistakeable. Get it and enjoy until his next album! Submitted by dillexr (Ohio) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A complete letdown I was excited to see Jake back in action, so I picked this up the day it was released. All I can say is "what a major letdown." There's just nothing to get excited about on here.
If you want to hear Jake do his thing, pick up A Fine Pink Mist. That record is truly amazing. It's innovative, fun, and a guitar-fest. This covers album may actually be the first CD I've ever sold back to a store. Submitted by Chris (Baltimore, MD USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Michael Schenker Group - Live In Tokyo 1997 DVD (1997)
Retraced album
$13.59 This 1997 Tokyo concert showcases highlights from throughout Michael Schenker's prolific, exceptional career. The rock & roll heavyweight plays songs from his tenure in the Scorpions, such as "Another Piece of Meat" and "In the Search of the Peace of Mind." The wealth of material also features some excellent UFO cuts, including "Doctor, Doctor," "Let it Roll," "Too Hot to Handle," and "Love to Love," while the artist's later work with MSG is represented well with "Into the Arena," "No Time for Losers," and "Feels Like a Good Thing," among others. Known for his characteristic "Flying V" Gibson guitar, Michael Schenker and his band remain the quintessential gods of arena rock.
This DVD features two supreme performances of the Master of the Flying V, as well as interviews. ...
| | Tony Iommi Fused CD (2005)
Retraced CD music
$11.49 Following up 2000's cast-of-thousands album IOMMI, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi resurrected his solo project for 2005's FUSED. Session-drummer extraordinaire Kenny Aronoff and bassist/keyboardist Bob Marlette are once again on board, with former Deep Purple member Glenn Hughes joining in on vocals and bass. Given Hughes's history with Iommi--he sang on Black Sabbath's SEVENTH STAR, as well as an aborted 1996 Iommi record that eventually saw the light of day in 2004--their pairing seems quite natural. While nobody tops Iommi's rapport with Ozzy Osbourne, Hughes does an admirable job playing off the guitarist's gargantuan riffs, particularly on the fierce "Wasted Again" and the brooding "Resolution Song." FUSED closes on "I Go Insane," a nine-minute-plus suite that begins with David Gilmour-like leads and ends in a flurry of surging solos. In fact, Iommi's huge six-string ...
| | Breeders Pod CD (2009)
Retraced music CDs
$9.29 Somewhat unhappy with their roles as second bananas in their respective groups, Kim Deal (bassist of the Pixies) and Tanya Donelly (guitarist of the Throwing Muses) struck out on their own. The result, after hiring Josephine Wiggs (bassist from the seriously underrated Perfect Disaster) and ex-Slint drummer Britt Walford (who took the name Shannon Doughton for his Breeders-related recordings), was the album POD, which was released in 1990 to great success. A very short record (12 songs in just under 30 minutes), it is a jagged, barbed affair that clearly shows its creators pedigrees.
The record's immediately obvious standout is the cover of the Beatles' "Happiness Is a Warm Gun," which far outstrips the original in creeping menace. However, other, more lasting, highlights include "Oh!," with an ever-so-slowly sawing violin; "Hellbound," which abounds in shards of guitar shrapnel and abortion references; the hesitantly exuberant "Fortunately Gone," with Deal's raspy voice and Donelly's sweeter ...
