| | Melody Gardot My One And Only Thrill CD (2009)
Travel By Stars music CDs
$12.59 Although the plaudits for Melody Gardot's debut album, WORRISOME HEART, were entirely justified, it sometimes seemed as if the young singer-songwriter's compelling personal story--hit by a car and severely injured at the age of 19, the aspiring fashion designer began playing piano and writing songs as part of her physical therapy--overshadowed her music. Gardot's second album, MY ONE AND ONLY THRILL, dispells that sense entirely: this gorgeous collection of lavishly orchestrated jazz-pop ballads is the work of a genuinely talented singer-songwriter. Gardot's melodic sense is greatly matured: opening track "Baby I'm A Fool" and "Lover Undercover" have the feel ...

| | Heart Little Queen CD (1977) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; Expanded Edition
Travel By Stars album
$8.49 Also available in a 3-pack with DOG AND BUTTERFLY and BEBE LE STRANGE.
Heart's sophomore effort, 1977's LITTLE QUEEN, was another strong and classic release for the band, despite the fact that they were caught up in a nightmarish legal wrangle with their former record label (who issued the half-finished album MAGAZINE shortly after LITTLE QUEEN, against the band's wishes).
The raging and venomous "Barracuda" remains one of Heart's best rock tracks, while the gorgeous "Love Alive" is an engaging acoustic number. With ...
| | Eyvind Kang Orchestra Dim Bridges CD (2004)
Travel By Stars CD music
$13.15 Orchestra Dim Bridges is the long awaited and much anticipated collaboration between creative minds Eyvind Kang and Tucker Martine. This beautifully crafted recording covers lots of musical ground, from fluid and melodic songwriting to deep and subtle avant-garde sonic explorations, and most places in-between. Filled with both delicate and aggressive surprises, each listen of this unique and subtle record reveals something fresh and new. Violinist, composer, and conceptualist Eyvind Kang is a member of Bill Frisell's Quartet, Secret Chiefs 3, Wayne Horvitz's 4+1 Ensemble, and has worked with John Zorn, Beck, Marc Ribot, Arto Lindsay, and Ikue Mori. He also has 3 groundbreaking recordings of his own out on John Zorn's Tzadik label, and is one of today's most unique voices in creative and experimental music. Producer/Sound Alchemist Tucker Martine is also a member of Wayne Horvitz's 4+1 Ensemble and appeared on the Sam Rivers/Julian Priester record Hints on Light and Shadow. His first release, entitled Mount Analog, ...
| | Dark Clan Oh But The Stars Still Shine CD (2006)
Travel By Stars music CDs
$9.35 This is the sound of a heart on a sleeve. This is the sound of the Dark Clan. The only core member is listless (that's me), guitar player for Stromkern, Null Device, Siv, and member of the Gothsicles, for whom I do whatever darkNES tells me to do. Other contributors contribute wonderful things to the music of The Dark Clan all the time, for which I could never thank them enough. The Dark Clan is a repository for all the songwriting detritus hanging out in my head that has never fit into any band I've ever been in, hence the lack of a coherent overall style. The only things lending any sense of "band-ness" to this collection of songs are my undying love for good melody and big beats, and my weird obsession with first- and fourth-species counterpoint, which techniques appear in just about every single one of these songs. Some of this is quite serious, and some of it is not. But it is all sincere earnestly so. As unfashionable as credulity and honesty and sincerety and earnestness and straghtforwardness seem to be, all of this is it. Even the un-serious bits.Or, in a nutshell, the music of The Dark Clan sounds like ...
