Majek Fashek - Little Patience Album Track Listing
Little Patience CD music. Peter Tosh's recording career began in 1963 and ended in 1987 with his murder. This collection of 12 of Tosh's finest moments concentrates heavily on two records, WANTED DREAD OR ALIVE and MAMA AFRICA, from 1981 and 1983 respectively. Though not a thorough retrospective of his work, this is a fine selection that conveys a period in which he had persevered and matured as an artist and emerged bloody but unbowed.
Beginning with the menacing "Coming in Hot," DREAD DON'T DIE showcases his transition from a classic rasta reggae to a more modernized style incorporating elements of dancefloor and dub. The songs from MAMA AFRICA exemplify Tosh's musical evolution, especially on his audacious remake of "Johnny B. Goode." Elsewhere is the dub-style "Walk and Don't Look Back" with Mick Jagger, and a gutsy live take on the Wailers anthem "Get Up Stand Up." The elegiac "Fool's Die," with just a tender flute and soft keyboard textures, showcases Tosh's rarely heard tender side. On the live "Equal Rights/Downpresser Man" he reprises an old chestnut from his early days with Lee "Scratch" Perry.
