Wikka album
$13.69 On Lacuna Coil's highly anticipated 2009 album, SHALLOW LIFE, the Italian metal band presents one of its most accessible outings without toning down its signature heavy, dramatic sound. Enlisting renowned producer Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne), the ensemble seems intent on broadening its appeal with more straightforward songs that are less rooted in European classicism, as evinced on the surging single "Spellbound," which showcases the emotive male/female vocals of Andrea Ferro and Cristina Scabbia, respectively. While many tracks play up Lacuna Coil's ferocity (see the punchy "Underdog"), "Wide Awake" channels the goth-leaning ...
| | Tool Lateralus CD (2000)
Wikka CD music
$14.95 "Schism" won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
Approaching Tool's LATERALUS with a casual ear would be a careless endeavor, to say the least. The sheer magnitude of the musical and emotional textures is as heady as it is primal. Standing out as one of the defining traits of the Tool sound is Justin Chancellor's hauntingly melodic bass playing, which often launches into a role reversal with the mountainous guitar work of Adam Jones. The best examples of said phenomenon are found in "The Grudge" and "Reflection." Drummer Danny Carey slips easily into the pocket, fearlessly tackling odd time signatures and tasty percussion like few contemporary metal percussionists (best evidenced in "The Patient.") Lyrically, LATERALUS crawls through the cerebral catacombs of vocalist Maynard James Keenan, exploring themes such as the fallout from failed communication ("Schism") and clutching to past ...
| | Dio Holy Diver CD (1983)
Wikka music CDs
$6.39 Despite recording two hit studio albums with Black Sabbath (1980's HEAVEN AND HELL and 1981's THE MOB RULES) and playing throughout the world to huge crowds, Ronnie James Dio left the band in 1982-the year of his final release with Sabbath, the in-concert LIVE EVIL. As soon as the announcement of his departure was made official, Dio began to put together his first solo project. Joining him were former Rainbow bandmate Jimmy Bain on bass, former Sabbath bandmate Vinny Appice on drums, ex-Sweet Savage guitar hero Vivian Campbell, and newcomer Claude Schnell on keyboards.
HOLY DIVER, Dio's band debut, was issued in 1983. The album quickly became a favorite among headbangers worldwide and eventually earned the group platinum certification. The somewhat upbeat sounding "Rainbow in the Dark" was an MTV favorite, while the plodding title track proved to be another standout. Other album highlights include the opening anthem "Stand Up and Shout," "Invisible," and "Don't Talk to Strangers." HOLY DIVER ...
| | Judas Priest Sad Wings Of Destiny CD (1975)
Wikka songs
$9.99 Frontman Rob Halford has considered this to be Judas Priest's SGT. PEPPER, and it's easy to see why. The album expanded upon the group's debut by tackling a variety of styles, utilizing dynamics to striking effect, and establishing the essential guitar interplay between Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing. "Victim Of Changes" may be forever known for its snarling riffs and Halford's startling final scream, but its subdued mid-section enhances the power of those elements. "The Ripper" offers up Victorian horror, while "Tyrant" and "Island Of Domination" thunder along with metallic machismo.
The album has it softer side, however, notably the neo-classical ...
