Parade + Live At The Nearfest 2002
$15.05 A thoroughly modern guitarist, Jacob Young (from Norway) was influenced chiefly by masters Jim Hall and John Abercrombie. Recalling the earliest discs from that label by Bill Frisell and John Abercrombie, SIDEWAYS balances absorbing motifs, chilled-out ...

Parade + Live At The Nearfest 2002
$13.89 The Brooklyn-based experimental noise pop group, The Binary Marketing Show, will be releasing its third full-length album on April 30 entitled pattern. The album is a forty-five minute romp through sample-based grooves, chanting circus melodies, and post-traumatic episodes. Anxious screams of frustration bust through drifting male/female harmonies while other quiet moments leap into raw rock rhythms. Generally characterized by its segmented pop hooks and sometimes frantic beats, pattern is a crafted record that recaps the daily thoughts, feelings, and disillusions of four enchanted individuals that are up and coming in the Brooklyn art-rock scene. The album's first track, "Shape of your Head," fuses driving electronic beats like that of early 90's techno with the schmaltzy sound of sampled orchestral harps only to ironically become almost a rock song with a tight synth bass line. "Trust and Candor" is a floor-tom centric drum-line with chanting lyrics that bursts into a trumpet fanfare like breaking a two-by-four with your fist only to disappear into oblivion as quickly as it came. "White Template" starts with quiet arpeggios and haunting, reverb-drenched vocals and erupts into a thematic baritone guitar melody and trotting percussion like that of a Tarantino remake of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. The albums ends with the glitching pitch-bending notes of a euphonium in the song "Present Day Armor" with what sounds like the march in a demented Miyazaki film and dissolves into the charming vocal harmonies and sounds of shattering glass in "Words..." Overall, the album ...
