| | Billy Gibson Band CD Billy Gibson Discography of CDs
As anyone who has heard him on Beale Street already knows, Billy Gibson's harp playing is extraordinary. Seeing him live is an experience not to forget--he is simply electrifying. On this new studio recording, the chemistry of these ace musicians is in perfect harmony. Although his harp playing is no less than ferocious, every guitar lick, every drum fill, and every organ nuance has its place on these nine songs. "A certified genius," Bill Ellis of The Memphis Commercial Appeal comments regarding Gibson's virtuosity. For fans who have followed his career since his days in junkyardmen, The Billy Gibson Band CD will be comfortably familiar. For fans not familiar with Gibson, GET this one!
Personnel: Billy Gibson (vocals, harmonica); David Bowen (guitar, background vocals); Charlie Wood (piano, Fender Rhodes piano, Clavinet, organ, Wurlitzer organ, background vocals); Lynn Cardona, Lucy Hathcote (background vocals).

Billy Gibson Band album
$18.05 Growing up among Afro-Americans in Berkeley, CA, Greek-American Johnny Otis (born John Veliotes) always identified strongly with people of color. Before he had attained the age of 20 he was gigging with black jazz bands throughout the Southwest, and eventually organized an ensemble deliberately patterned after Count Basie's orchestra. This highly charged album of historical musical artifacts documents the very beginning of Johnny Otis' recording career. With one apparently unobtainable exception, the Classics Blues & Rhythm Series has assembled all of Otis' Excelsior recordings, made in Los Angeles between 1945 and 1947. This provides background and context for his more well-known Savoy material, and ...

| | B B King Mr. Blues/Confessin' The Blues CD (2005) (Import) Remastered; United Kingdom
Billy Gibson Band songs
$18.79 This CD contains B.B. King's first ABC-Paramount studio efforts -- Mr. Blues (1962) and Confessin' the Blues (1965), respectively. While there are inevitable similarities between the projects, offering them back-to-back allows listeners an acute sense of King's rapid maturation and development during what was by all accounts the nexus of the guitarist/vocalist's career. The dozen-song Mr. Blues was a haphazard start for King with the contents taken from three different recording sessions in a 13-month period (March 1, 1962 through April 11, 1963). Based on the results, the artist was being presented as a blues shouter, supported by an antiquated big band and/or orchestra. Arguably the best of the lot comes from the Maxwell Davis led ensemble on the first of several Big Joe Turner tunes, the Ahmet Ertegun penned "Chains of Love." ...

Recorded at the rustic and intimate Deertrees Theatre in Harrison ME one hot summer's eve, the disc showcases 15 of Anni's most requested songs, including "I'm from Maine" (never recorded before) plus the new "Between the Rungs", a song penned only days before the August 2004 concert. With thousands of gigs and miles, and six solo albums under her belt, this Maine native's passion for communication through music continues to build a widespread and loyal audience. Her infectious style might be described as "original folk, pop, & blues with a dash of Maine hume-ah". In 2003, Anni won BOTH "Female Artist of the Year" and "Folk Artist of the Year" in Jam Music Magazine's Readers' Pix Awards! With glowing reviews and steady airplay to support her, she toured nonstop with the release of her CD, Big Water. Baltimore's Dirty Linen Magazine wrote that "Anni Clark takes major steps with her fifth solo album... she leads the way to a metaphorical exploration of the natural world. 'Forever Free' is one of the strongest songs written about the events of 9/11." Maine's Face Magazine said that "not only does Clark continue to write and perform great songs about this thing called life, she does so with a quiet grace..." The Kennebec Journal wrote "what I love about Clark is that she can have you laughing one moment and close to tears the next with the honest emotions in her material". A two-time finalist in the well-known New Folk Songwriters' Competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, Anni was invited to be one of three judges in this event in 2001. Other renowned festival appearances include The Boston Folk Festival, The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale NY, and the Kerrville TX Wine and Music Festival. In Y2K, Anni wrote and performed all the music for Virginia Plummer's ...
