| | Silky Soul Music: An All-Star Tribute To Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly CD (2009)
Neo Tango CD music
$10.19 A San Francisco-based smooth R&B act with roots in Philadelphia soul, Maze (usually billed as Maze featuring Frankie Beverly) never managed to break with a larger mainstream audience during their late-`70s to early `80s peak, but nevertheless garnered a devoted following in urban radio as one of the progenitors of the romantic, understated style known as "quiet storm." And the group's jazz-funk sophistication can certainly be felt in contemporary R&B and neo-soul styles of the `90s and `00s, with some of their career highpoints ("Joy and Pain" and "Before I ...
| | Michael Jackson Bad CD (1987) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; Special Edition
Neo Tango music CDs
$7.59 Digitally remastered by Bernie Grundman (Bernie Grundman Mastering, Los Angeles, California).
Jackson's domination of the world record market continued following Thriller, although by comparison it was an almighty flop with only 12 million sales. As Pink Floyd and Dire Straits have proved, one album can go completely sales haywire without necessarily being any better. The title track and the gorgeous "Man In The Mirror" were substantial hits, but quality material such as "Dirty Diana" and "Liberian Girl" bolster a strong album. Jackson also seemed to have found the romance he seeks in "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" and "The Way You Make Me Feel." Regardless of his press, history clearly shows that he has made a lot of people very, very happy.

$14.19 Digitally remastered by Dan Hersch (DigiPrep, Hollywood, California).
The ultimate Joe Tex single-disc anthology, 25 ALL-TIME GREATEST HITS delivers just what the title promises, all of Joe Tex's hit singles plus one rare b-side, the quirky, chipper, soul-folk hybrid "Don't Let Your Left Hand Know." The songs aren't in chronological order, but it's still easy to chart Tex's evolution from the ballad-heavy love man of "Hold What You've Got" to the in-your-face soul shouter of "I Gotcha," all the way to his final incarnation as one of the few 1960s soul artists to make an entirely credible shift into disco, culminating in the hilarious but still funky "Ain't Gonna Bump No ...
| | Cabaret Voltaire Remixed CD (2001)
Neo Tango music CDs
$12.79 This is 12-track collection of remixes by the Sheffield synth-industrial duo Cabaret Voltaire.
The timing of this album is fairly strange: more than a decade after the fact, how many people were hollering for a compilation of remixes from Cabaret Voltaire's most maligned period? Yet here it is, a compilation of material that originally appeared on Code and Groovy, Laidback and Nasty, with a heavy emphasis on tracks from the latter, weaker album. Considering EMI's access to the three Some Bizarre albums, one can only assume that the Original Sound of Sheffield and Conform to Deform compilations were already in the pipeline and this one was just a collecting-the-remaining-pieces ...
