Foo Fighters continue to redefine the parameters of the post-grunge rock world with their fifth album, IN YOUR HONOR. Dave Grohl and company flesh out their impressive canon with a two-CD set--the first disc plugged-in and packed with screaming guitars and vocals, while the second disc showcases the band's more acoustic and ethereal side. The loud-soft-loud dynamic approach of Grohl's former band for resonates quite a bit through Disc One. "Free Me" turns the distortion down briefly before pile-driver rhythms and Grohl's relentless guitar riffs dovetail smoothly into quirky-yet-effective time changes. Reflecting the personal tumult of recent years are the anthemic "Resolve" and the indignant kiss-off "The Last Song," with its AC/DC-flavored attitude and stomping cadence.
Disc Two's mellower offerings are no less intriguing, showing the band's stylistic range. "Another Round," with its mix of harmonium, harp, and mandolin could easily be mistaken for a Counting Crows outtake, and the dueling acoustic guitars on "Razor" are more Leo Kottke than Kyuss. IN YOUR HONOR shows that a hard-edged musical attack and deft songwriting need not be mutually exclusive.

This is the best, the bost of the Foo Fighters yet!! The frequency of this album is outstanding, stand out tracks such as "best of you", " no way back", "DOA" ........ are amazing. Cd2 is filled with great tracks - "Virginia Moon" to name 1 ... Just amazing Submitted by Nitin (Auckland, NewZealand) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Fantastic When I first got this CD set I gave CD#2 a quick listen and wondered why they even bothered....a few weeks on and CD#2 is all I listen to.
CD#1 is great and typical of what we expect from the Foo Fighters, no let downs there, but some of the songs on CD#2 have changed my opinion of Dave forever. This guy is amazing, songs like 'Over And Out' , 'Miracle' & 'On The Mend' would have to be some of the best acoustic music I have ever heard. 'Friend of a Friend' reminds me of Nirvana's acoustic efforts. This is all topped off by Dave's deep, deep lyrics.
Just brilliant.

In Your Honor album
$8.99 This is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. "Learn To Fly" won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video. The song was also nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
In the time following the disintegration of Nirvana, Dave Grohl worked hard at establishing the Foo Fighters. The release of the band's third album was a triumph that came on the heels of a label switch, Grohl's divorce, and the departure of three band members. Despite all the chaos, the former Nirvana skinbasher managed to record a collection of songs that meld the power of his punk roots with an innate sense of melodicism.
Sure to shock and dismay indie purists are such abundant '70s classic rock quirks as the stomping Foghat-like riffs ...
| | Foo Fighters One By One CD (2002) Enhanced CD
In Your Honor CD music
$8.99 ONE BY ONE won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. "Times Like These" was nominated for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. "All My Life" won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. "All My Life" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Rock Song.
In between manning drums for the Queens Of The Stone Age album SONGS FOR THE DEAF and the 2003 all-star death metal side-project Probot, Dave Grohl turned out ONE BY ONE, the Foo Fighters' fourth studio outing. With the Foo's line-up remaining intact for the second consecutive album, Grohl's posse set about sanding down the lighter, pop-inflected nuances of the album's predecessor THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE. From the opening cut/lead single "All My Life," the Foo Fighters serve notice that amps are cranked and guitars are far beyond being set on stun. This intense outpouring of energy manifests itself well on the simmering tension ...
| | Green Day American Idiot CD (2004)
In Your Honor music CDs
$11.39 Rock opera and punk are usually two mutually exclusive musical styles. Then again, Green Day has never followed any rock rulebook, so it's not entirely surprising that the trio crafted a punk-rock opera that takes the Bush administration ...
| | Audioslave Out Of Exile CD (2005)
In Your Honor songs
$12.49 OUT OF EXILE presents a band that has grown comfortably into its own skin. Three years after Audioslave's highly successful debut, the supergroup crafted a truly formidable rock album with a fresh, live-in-the-studio rawness. Former Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello rolls back ...
| | Coldplay X & Y CD (2005)
In Your Honor album
$11.39 Although Coldplay was already big before A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD's 2002 release, nothing could have prepared the British band for the album's Grammy-garnering runaway success. In addition to becoming a full-blown rock star, frontman Chris Martin remained in the media spotlight through his marriage to actress Gwyneth Paltrow and the subsequent birth of the couple's child. What followed for Coldplay was, reportedly, a difficult and lengthy recording process where the group tinkered extensively with their signature sound and eventually arrived back at square one.
"Square One" is, in fact, where X&Y, the band's third album, begins, with a subtle, dreamy keyboard line giving way to a barrage of razor-sharp guitar riffs and Martin's plaintive vocals. In keeping ...
| | Foo Fighters Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace CD (2007)
In Your Honor CD music
$9.59 ECHOES, SILENCE, PATIENCE & GRACE, the Foo Fighters' sixth effort, upholds the band's allegiance to melody-heavy post-grunge power pop driven by roaring guitars and Dave Grohl's fine songwriting. The Foos are aided by super-producer Gil Norton this time out (Norton also helped craft the group's ...
| | Johnny Thunders New Too Much Junkie Business... CD (1983)
In Your Honor music CDs
$14.59 Although this is something of a grab-bag--a mix of live material (recorded at the new wave dance palace, the Peppermint Lounge) and studio stuff done with producer Jimmy Miller (of Rolling Stones fame)--this is a good document of the ex-New York Doll's solo work from the early '80s.
There are good versions of songs associated with his old bandmates ("Jet Boy," "Great Big Kiss"), as well as a rousing new track, the characteristically loud and snotty "Get Off the Phone." The album also features one of Thunders' best who-needs-girls anthems ...
