(10 Customer Reviews)
Plenty of SoCal punk diehards decried The Offspring to be "sellouts" when they leapt from cherished indie Epitaph to the major-label stables at Columbia Records. But one listen to this GREATEST HITS compilation points to a band that was never ... Full Descriptiondestined to stay underground for long. In crafting clever pop-punk that addressed the concerns of teen skate-punks everywhere, this California quartet cranked out radio-friendly cuts every bit as viable as anything peers like Green Day and Blink 182 were producing during the same time period. Social observations not only poked fun at suburban kids affecting inner-city mannerisms ("Pretty Fly [For a White Guy]"), but gold diggers ("Why Don't You Get a Job?") and the lost opportunities of a younger generation ("The Kids Aren't All right"). The sing-along choruses and irresistible bassline of "Self Esteem" succinctly paint an all-too familiar picture of lovelorn guys getting played by manipulative gals. And there's no denying the chunky, Middle Eastern-flavored hooks that made "Come Out and Play (Keep 'Em Separated)" such a ubiquitous presence on mid-'90s airwaves. A hidden bonus cover of The Police's "Next to You" tops off this superb compilation from one of the most successful and likeable acts of the mid-'90s punk-pop scene.
Recording information: 1994 - 2005.
The Offspring: Dexter Holland (vocals); Noodles (guitar); Greg K (bass guitar); Ron Welty (drums).
Additional personnel include: Redman (vocals); Josh Freese (drums); Def Leppard (background vocals).

Greatest Hits album
$13.15 The 1997 release of SMALL FACES contains 5 additional tracks not contained on the original release.
In 1965, Small Faces came blasting out of England with style, wild abandon, and hits. But those hits were limited to the United Kingdom and Europe, failing to make inroads in the United States until the band's restructuring as The Faces in 1970. Much like the early Who, Small Faces had an exuberance that threatened to detonate the band's songs but instead kept the players rolling forward with unrelenting fervor.
Small Faces' debut album shows a band able to both tackle tunes from the belly of American R&B and to offer up its own bracing originals. Check out "It's Too Late," impressive by any standards but all the more so when one considers that these guys were barely into their '20s. Steve Marriott, a singer who could shout with the best of them, fronted Small Faces. His rasp is infectious, believable, and highly controlled, never sounding like the affectation of a young guy who wants to sound like an old bluesman. Those who are only familiar with Small Faces from the band's later incarnation as the Rod Stewart-fronted Faces should look into SMALL FACES for an ...
| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Greatest Hits CD music
$6.39 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."
Somewhat more mysteriously, Rolling Stone Ron Wood also turns up on what sounds dangerously close to a lounge version of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing," but this minor faux pas is redeemed by the Irish folk medley "Joy of Life/Trout in the Bath" which arguably features more full-on Irishness than the Dublin production of RIVERDANCE. There's also a lovely rendition of Neil Young's "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" that's topped only by Ron Wood's reappearance on a finale of the ...
| | Kinks Ultimate Collection CDs (2007) (Import) Thailand
Greatest Hits music CDs
$19.69 Arguably the finest and most expansive Kinks collection on the market! The first disc of this double-disc begins with their third single and first No. 1, the insistent 'You Really Got Me', then races through the glory years with the absurdly infectious likes of 'Sunny Afternoon', 'Waterloo Sunset', 'Lola' and 'Apeman'. Dave's two hits are included, too, and the disc ends with 'Come Dancing' and other selections ...
| | Dredg Catch Without Arms CD (2005)
Greatest Hits songs
$8.55 Early on, critics often described Dredg as a metal group. However, the quartet has since matured into a hard-edged indie-rock ensemble that seeks diversity and refinement in its music. On CATCH WITHOUT ARMS, the band favors highly orchestrated parts, dense guitar riffs, and powerful drumming. Each song is based around memorable vocal hooks and sensitive lyrical content.
Many tracks on CATCH WITHOUT ARMS have a searching quality to them. Despite the sheer force of the music, this release is ultimately marked by well constructed melodies and intriguing harmonic underpinnings. This is due in part to singer Gavin Hayes, who ...

Greatest Hits album
$15.65 The 18th offering in the NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC! compilation series offers one-stop shopping of the Billboard charts circa late 2004 and early 2005. Pop may be the engine that drives this machine, but R&B/hip-hop makes a greater mark on NOW 18, despite the inclusion of bubblegum icons Lindsay Lohan (the melodramatic "Rumors") and Skye Sweetnam ("Tangled Up in Me"). Here Destiny's Child rolls slow with T.I. and Lil Wayne on the laid-back "Soldier," Snoop Dogg hits a mellow groove with Pharrell on "Drop ...
