Andrew take a cold shower....
This IS an amazing album. It is raw; the writing is sparse and brilliant...and as always with Dylan, slightly ahead of its time. However there is certainly no reason whatsoever for comparitive analysis to such treasures as Highway 61 Revisted or Blonde On Blonde. These albums are unique gems, masterworks. The only person qualified to judge them strangely enough is Dylan himself. 'Bringing it all back home'is one more album that falls into this category. A place where such mere mortals such as you and I have no right to tread. Therefore stand back and take a deep, deep breathe...and hold it...until you have something a little more provocative to add!

best dylan album
this album is straight forward and intelligent, way moreso than the overrated blonde on blonde and highway 61. boots of spanish leather and one too many mornings are the most emotional songs ive heard of his, and his most politically viable and scathing are here as well, making it complete and awesome.

The Times Haven't Changed
After 41 years this record is still essential listening. Only a Pawn in Their Game brilliantly describes how white Southern politicians exploited poor white folks' fear of racial integration. A whole book's worth of political and socioeconomic analysis is compacted into one little song. The struggles of common folks are vividly chronicled in North Country Blues. Dylan's raspy voice and simple guitar chords will send a chill up your spine in the murderous tale of Hollis Brown. Dylan's social commentary is still pertinent today. Buy this one and educate yourself.
