| | Nine Inch Nails With Teeth CD Nine Inch Nails Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Over the course of his musical career, Trent Reznor has managed to deliver a full-length studio album about every five years. Although he's a bit late with 2005's WITH TEETH (following 1999's THE FRAGILE), listeners are rewarded with Nine Inch Nails' most streamlined and straightforward record since PRETTY HATE MACHINE. Here Reznor cuts back on programming and synthesizers, opting for heavy use of guitars, bass, and--surprisingly--piano and live drums. In fact, the album's secret weapon is drummer Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana), whose thunderous percussive style gives certain songs--most notably the frenetic "You Know What You Are?"--added weight and a welcome no-frills rock edge. Though the techno/industrial element of Reznor's music has been played down, his lyrics are typically angst-ridden, with dramatic tales of isolation, deception, loss, and love gone wrong. More than 15 years after his debut, Reznor is as tormented as ever, and Nine Inch Nails fans wouldn't have it any other way.

With Teeth album
$17.58 In case there was any doubt that Joanna Newsom was busy making music -- along with modeling and starring in MGMT videos -- in the four years between her brilliant second album Ys and its follow-up, Have One on Me's three-disc, two-hour expanse is proof positive. The album's massive size suggests that Newsom is bent on outdoing herself with each release, but the music is simpler than Ys' symphonic reveries. Instead, she uses this oversize canvas to travel from Appalachian folk to big city ...

| | Corinne Bailey Rae Sea CD (2010)
With Teeth album
$14.49 After selling four million copies of her debut album, an effort filled with her precious brand of neo-soul and the uplifting hit "Put Your Records On," singer/songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae lost her husband Jason Rae suddenly and took two years off to grieve and recover before returning with her second effort, The Sea. On the album's opener "Are You Here," lyrics like "Wait till you see those eyes" and "He'll kiss you make you feel sixteen" suggest she's just fallen in love, but the fascinating idea behind The Sea is that it never explains itself, even if there's a new richness in Rae's soft and oh-so-tender voice that suggests something has changed deep inside. As such, the song's "What's it even mean?" question could be the beginning of a love affair or a tragedy, but the following "I'd Do It All Again" is even trickier, as post-argument lyrics written before her husband's tragic loss ("You're searching for something I know/Won't make you happy") take on new meaning . Further ...

| | Kubikmaggi Ўно Ðе ТребуетÑÑ CD (2010) (Import)
With Teeth CD music
$14.85 Indie academism. The raw meat of Russian Jazz. Based fully on the subtlest nuances of sound-picking and dynamics, the sound of the trio makes one rediscover the interaction of the instruments present. Refused as they did the common role of arrangements basement, the bass and the drums are often the bright soloists in the songs, while the voice is only an equal instrument in the overall performance. Keeping the best traditions of modernism, music of KUBIKMAGGI implies an essential part of reflection and interaction. The audience is often induced in the construction of this musical puzzle. Their recent release 'Ono ne trebuetsa' (translates as 'Needless') (Ulitka Records, 2008) is a good example of this ...
