| | Ron White You Can't Fix Stupid CD (2006) Uncensored
Unsweetened
$13.19 Ron White made a name for himself as a member of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, and he makes good on that name with his full-length solo outing YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID. Foul-mouthed, scathingly sarcastic, and surprisingly insightful, White holds forth on everything from the Mile High Club to Michael Jackson in his inimitable red-neck-meets-rat-pack style. Those with tender ears will want to steer clear, but comedy fans with a penchant for bawdy straight-shooting will get a kick out of YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID. A payoff from his role in the Blue Comedy Tour's success, the audience Ron White plays to on You Can't Fix Stupid is huge. The comedian, however, hasn't changed a bit. He's still that rare rambler at the end of the bar who's entertaining while shooting his mouth off at the modern world and getting scatological whenever possible. The laziness White projects has been supported by a slow release schedule that includes his appearances on the Blue Collar albums, 2003's Drunk in Public, a couple DVDs, and a bunch of shoddy reissues of his early truck stop albums that really don't match his later work. It's admirable that White hasn't exploited the Blue Collar breakthrough like his old record company, but the big payoff of this restraint is You Can't Fix Stupid sounds road-tested to perfection despite White's informal delivery. Sleaze and swearing are abundant and all the explanation you need as to why raunchy man was the only member of the troupe to sit out the too-safe Blue Collar TV series. The brash brute's best material is unquotable in mixed company, meaning You Can't Fix Stupid is a party record for Mom and Dad only, mostly Dad. With straight stand-up and no half-baked novelty songs to clutter the album, the only letdown is that like too many other 21st century stand-up albums, You Can't Fix Stupid is the audio companion to a DVD instead of an entirely stand-alone album. Regardless, it's a solid release in an iffy discography and the best audio introduction yet to his Johnny Walker Black-soaked style. ~ David Jeffries A payoff from his role in the Blue Comedy Tour's success, the audience Ron White plays to on You Can't Fix Stupid is huge. | | Robert Fleischman Kinetic Phenomena CD (2007)
Unsweetened
$13.69 Robert Fleischman was born in Los Angeles, raised in Torrance California, and has enjoyed tremendous success as a vocalist, songwriter and performer during his career. Robert exploded onto the booming California music scene in the late 1970’s when he joined a San Francisco band, looking to make the transformation from rock-fusion to a more radio friendly, commercial rock sound. This band, Journey, would go on to become one of the most successful rock bands in the history of music. Robert, the original lead vocalist, wrote and performed with Journey for just under a year. Due to a conflict of interest with management, vocalist Steve Perry was hired; continuing the sound that Fleischman was instrumental in helping the band establish. With the triple platinum success of Journey’s Infinity album on which Robert’s songs are prominently featured, the name Robert Fleischman had quickly become synonymous with hit songwriting. His most noteworthy contributions to the band were, "Wheel in the Sky", "Anytime", and "Winds of March". In January of 2005 when Journey received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, they insisted ...
