Following up 2000's cast-of-thousands album IOMMI, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi resurrected his solo project for 2005's FUSED. Session-drummer extraordinaire Kenny Aronoff and bassist/keyboardist Bob Marlette are once again on board, with ... Full Descriptionformer Deep Purple member Glenn Hughes joining in on vocals and bass. Given Hughes's history with Iommi--he sang on Black Sabbath's SEVENTH STAR, as well as an aborted 1996 Iommi record that eventually saw the light of day in 2004--their pairing seems quite natural. While nobody tops Iommi's rapport with Ozzy Osbourne, Hughes does an admirable job playing off the guitarist's gargantuan riffs, particularly on the fierce "Wasted Again" and the brooding "Resolution Song." FUSED closes on "I Go Insane," a nine-minute-plus suite that begins with David Gilmour-like leads and ends in a flurry of surging solos. In fact, Iommi's huge six-string sound is as potent as ever; this is bold, straightforward heavy metal that will immediately appeal to fans of latter-day Sabbath.

This (LP) is one of the best I have heard in this new era (of mostly crap) I'm old school and this ROCKED my newer World!
Heavy with strong and SOULFUL vocals!
Tony is heavier than some Sabbath and it works very well for me. Glenn's vocals are Spot On and work extremly well with Tony's playing. This is a MUST OWN for anyone who digs Sabbath/Purple/and Heavy Rock and Roll with the old heavy breathing of the 70's and a flavor of the new. BUY IT NOW!

Stellar release!
Every song develops into a by the book pleaser. These guys could release a hundred albums that with songs like this. Fused is a perfect vehicle for Hughes' voice and Iommi's riff movements.

I was a little sus at first, how ever This CD really takes off from T1, Hughes never sounded better his vocal range on T2 is fantastic and Iommis riffs locks it all in and a bonus having having Kenny on the album. This CD is a must have . Hope they tour downunder. tgh rles from o

always good to hear either of these guys could have better hooks,anyone who knocks hughes vocals has no clue of vocal range or emotion and should listen to crap oops i mean rap

Great work musically, but surely the voice of Hughes could have been arranged and better adapted to Iommi's sound. Though the album sounds very good, clean, and full of emotions. I have enjoyed it a lot.

If someone as the great Swiss composer Dieter Amman says that «the nail» was the best pop song he had heard the last years, you don’t have to agree, but you should give it a try! Great piano chords reminding of Radiohead`s Pyramid Song and a voice that gives you the shiver are starting off this song. «The nail» is listed on the end of the CD. Until you get there, the music takes you far away on long journeys, but still hits you in the middle of your heart. Lyrics about freedom, love and death complete the depth of their music far away from the superficial mainstream radio sound. The songs are characterized by a big dynamic variety, exceptional chord progressions, strong melodies and grooving beats. The instrumentation with two saxophones (alto and baritone), piano, double bass and drums adds a unique colour to their sound. Guessing it sounds like jazz you might be wrong. The music combines the melancholy of Coldplay, the unusual song structures of Radiohead, a touching voice and surprising harmonies.Some people compared their sound with dark chocolate: it’s not too sweet but there’s still something in it that makes you want to eat it. At least if you’re fond of darkness. The music is quite dark; a lot of grief and deception are in it, but also some hope and some «movie score like» tracks that make sure you won’t be depressed for too long. Only in darkness a tiny candle can be beautiful.Samuel Batter is a talented young songwriter from a small town called Solothurn in Switzerland. His voice has a great diversity and is still very peculiar. For his band he has united some of the most promising Swiss jazz musicians. On doublebass plays Claude Meier who is at home in jazz or classic as much as in rock or hip hop.
