It's no secret that Sting is a serious man, so it's only logical that his holiday album -- his first new music since the Police reunion, not that it really matters -- is a serious endeavor, thank you. No niceties for him, no comforts of carols; he favors formal over familiar, writing madrigals, not ditties. It is music made by someone who lives in a castle, which isn't necessarily such a bad thing: the austerity is genuine, not affected, and the cerebral nature of the album is fascinating, albeit mildly so, as this is as sleepy as it is thoughtful. September 18, 1983 is a day that will go down in Kisstory. It was then that Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and replacement members Vinnie Vincent and Eric Carr took off their signature makeup and revealed themselves on MTV. LICK IT UP was released, and a new chapter unfolded.
Using the same production team as CREATURES OF THE NIGHT, Michael James Jackson, Simmons and Stanley came up with the same bone crunching sound as CREATURES, but with a slightly more polished feel. "Exciter" kicks off the album with a machine gun riff, which leads into Gene Simmons proclaiming he's "Not For The Innocent". The title track was a modest hit in the U.S., faired better in the U.K. and made for quite an entertaining video. "All Hell's Breakin' Loose" is a gritty streetwise track where Paul Stanley actually raps! "And On The 8th Day" is a powerful anthem that closes an exciting album.

ABOUT SUSAN SANDBERG Singer. Writer. Performer. Player. From the bars and clubs of Los Angeles to a sold-out two week engagement at the famed House of Live in Paris, Susan Sandberg has become, in the words of Request Magazine, “the strong contender to succeed Liz Phair and Alanis Morissette.” Her solo debut album, 1998’s STRIPPING FOR JESUS immediately garnered critical acclaim. Senior Writer Chris Willman of Entertainment Weekly wrote “Susan Sandberg hits all the right sweet tart chords with her expertly produced and played album.” Two tracks in particular quickly got the attention of film and television producers, with the song “Girl With All The Goodbyes” heard in the hit show “Dawson’s Creek” and the film “Late Last Night.” Another track, “Hey Batter” found even wider appeal, most notably in the smash comedy by the Farrelly Brothers, “There’s Something About Mary.” National club gigs soon followed, as well as a two-week engagement at the House of Live in Paris, an eclectic club that has showcased such acts as Hootie and The Blowfish and Emmy Lou Harris. UNTITLED GREATNESS is currently in production with Six Point Harness Animation in Los Angeles.
