Ambient Norse Folk soundscapes
A big departure from the old blackmetal by Varg. Taster for this kind of music came in the form of several synthesizer-tracks on previous albums like "Tomhet","Han Som Reiste" and "Rundgang..".Although I must admit that none of the tracks on "Hlidskjalf" reach the emotional level of the aforementioned tracks, it's still an intruiging piece to listen to,a little to folky to my taste sometimes but good.

Get the facts right
Well i unfortunately have not heard this cd yet but i plan on buying it. The point is Varg Vikernes is the Only member of Burzum. He kill Euronymous (Øystein Aarseth) with a knifenot a sword. Read up on it, quite interesting. And the tracks are in Norwegian not German.

Surprisingly good
Burzum's leader was allowed only an electronic keyboard while recording this album. No singing, no other instruments. That's a hard situation for any musician, especially for someone who prefers heavy metal. But he proved his greatness in this situation. The album is a must for Burzum fans. It is a different kind of music, but it's very dark and sounds "as heavy metal as an electronic keyboard can". It's not the new "full instrumental" album of Burzum we are all waiting for but it is a very good CD for any Burzum fan. Amd you'll be able to listen to this one in the late hours of the night, when any normal metal CD would make your neighbours call 911 ;)
