(2 Customer Reviews)
Three years after her Grammy-nominated record, WAIT FOR ME, Massachusetts-based blues singer Susan Tedeschi returned with a new studio album, produced by Joe Henry. As always, Tedeschi applies her soulful vocals to a variety of stirring covers, including a spare take on the Rolling Stones' "You Got the Silver" and a pleading rendition of Bob Dylan's "Lord Protect My Child." Here the formidable vocalist is aided by her husband, multi-instrumentalist Derek Trucks, as well as guitarist Doyle Bramhall II (Eric Clapton) and the Blind Boys of Alabama.

Hope And Desire album
$12.65 Part of a new series of recordings taken from the Austin City Limits broadcasts, Susan Tedeschi's performance is a more complete -- though not unedited -- version of what viewers saw on TV. Tedeschi's music naturally gives itself to a live setting. The program is a good one; featuring her regular band, this set juxtaposes a nice collection of material that has appeared on her studio albums, performed with a wonderful balance of passion and finesse that free-ranges across R&B, blues, and funk. Tedeschi's gifts as a singer are considerable. She understands the limits of her middling range and knows how to emphasize nuance and expressiveness. ...

Hope And Desire music CDs
$12.09 This is, perhaps, the one. Derek Trucks has been on an aesthetic quest for something since he began his own recording career in 1997 -- apart from his membership in the Allman Brothers Band. Each record has gone further into establishing Trucks not only as a slide guitar wizard (that happened when he was still in his teens), but also as a serious songwriter, fine arranger, and bandleader. The Derek Trucks Band, as evidenced by the release of 2003's Soul Serenade, is a unit -- a band -- whose core has been together for eight years. They create an atmosphere, a sound, a musical sense of place and community. ...
