| | Hilary Duff Most Wanted CD Hilary Duff Discography of CDs
(36 Customer Reviews)
A collection that combines previously unreleased songs with earlier tracks and remixes, MOST WANTED serves as a thumbnail sketch of Hilary Duff's 2003-2005 recording career. The three new songs here feature the charming singer pairing up with the Dead Executives production team, resulting in the techno-tinged "Wake Up," the upbeat "Beat of My Heart," and the rocked-out "Break My Heart," which sounds like Duff fronting the Foo Fighters. The rest of the disc presents cherry-picked tracks from her hugely successful first two albums (including the guitar-heavy "Metamorphosis" and the urgent "Fly") and the soundtrack for her 2004 film A CINDERELLA STORY, most notably an energetic rendition of the Go-Go's' "Our Lips Are Sealed." While the remixes don't depart much from the originals, they do give the tunes an added punch and make Duff's assertive and amiable vocals even more prominent. For those unfamiliar with Duff's undeniably catchy pop/rock sound, this is an excellent sampler of her best songs.

Purchase Most Wanted CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Black Eyed Peas E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies) CD (2009)
Most Wanted
$12.59 Black Eyed Peas, the hip-hop crossover juggernaut that propelled singer Fergie and producer Will.I.Am to superstardom, have, since 2003's ELEPHUNK, been audaciously plugging away at their bombastic but lighthearted style of rap-cum-dance pop--an effort that has translated to a run of successful chart-topping singles including "My Humps," "Pump It," and "Don't Phunk with My Heart." Eager to follow up on the platinum-selling success of 2005's MONKEY BUSINESS, Black Eyed Peas have returned with THE E.N.D. (an acronym for "Energy Never Dies"), their third studio effort. Combining Will.I.Am's thumping 808 kick drum-infused beats with production assistance from a host of collaborators (including vocoder-loving Torontoians ...
| | Baroness Blue Record CDs (2009) Limited Edition; Deluxe Edition
Most Wanted
$13.58 Georgia-based psychedelic rock band (calling them a metal act seems very reductive, though there's some seriously headbangable material on this disc) Baroness has made a subtle but unmistakable evolutionary leap on this, their second full-length and a clear companion piece to 2007's RED ALBUM. It's hard to say exactly what new guitarist Pete Adams has brought to the band after replacing drummer Allen Blickle's brother Brian, but the band's established blend of Southern sludge riffs, druggy instrumental journeys, and melodic interstitial interludes, all propelled by a particularly thudding drum sound and held together by John Baizley's ...
| | Michael Jackson: The Remix Suite CD (2009) Remixes
Most Wanted
$11.16 Two months after the death of pop icon Michael Jackson, and still fresh from a spate of memorials and celebrations to his genius, Universal Motown began releasing a series of download "suites" (remixed versions of classic MJ and Jackson 5 tunes) via iTunes, each suite revealed two weeks apart, a total ...
| | Michael Jackson - Video Greatest Hits - History DVD (1995) Special Edition
Most Wanted
$9.69 In connection with the release of Michael Jackson's "HIStory" album--a compilation of his greatest hits which spans the decades of his diverse, spectacular pop career, this release features Jackson's ten most famous short music films. Along with being one of the most successful pop stars of all time, Jackson also helped to revolutionize the music video art form, hiring Hollywood film directors like John Landis and Martin Scorsese to direct what are essentially short narrative films. Included are the videos for "Billie Jean," "Thriller," and "Bad."
This first volume of Michael Jackson's video greatest Hits History features top music videos, ...
| | Flight Of The Conchords I Told You I Was Freaky CD (2009) Digipak
Most Wanted
$12.44 After a glorious first season that earned the HBO show six Emmy nominations, Flight of the Conchords' second run didn't quite pack the same comedic punch. Some would say it was because the premise lost its luster, but it was mostly because the music just wasn't as strong. Most of the songs in Season One were pre-written and hashed out over years of stand-up, and for Season Two, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie were in a time crunch: forced to write a dozen or so funny songs and ten episodes from scratch. Considering the circumstances, FOTC's second Sub-Pop outing, I TOLD YOU I WAS FREAKY, has some worthwhile moments. In the R. Kelly-based "We're in Love with a Sexy Lady," Bret and Jemaine debate semantics while trying to determine if they're after the same lazy-eyed girl. "When'd you meet this lady?/Then./When?/Then./Right then?/Right then./Where?/There./Over there?/Over there./Over there there?/Over there there there," and so on, building up to Bret's ultimate question, "Was her name Brabra?" To which Jemaine replies, No I think it was Barbara."..."It was Barbara there's no such name as Brabra." ...

| | Taj Mahal Take A Giant Step CD (2005)
Most Wanted
$6.29 Mahal's husky voice carries every song and, although his guitar playing isn't prominent on much of the disc, there's still no mistaking his fleet-fingered solos. Those looking for a collection of classic Taj Mahal should seek out Columbia's 17-track THE BEST OF TAJ MAHAL or, better yet, the label's two-disc ESSENTIAL TAJ MAHAL, but for listeners wanting an accessible introduction to the latter-day work of this blues master, TAKE A GIANT STEP fits the bill.
The subtitle of 2005's TAKE A GIANT STEP: THE BEST OF TAJ MAHAL is a bit misleading. This 10-track compilation features the finest of the revered blues guitarist/vocalist's early-to-mid-1990s ...
| | Lucero Rebels, Rogues & Sworn Brothers CD (2006)
Most Wanted
$11.59 For REBELS, ROGUES & SWORN BROTHERS, their last album on their own Liberty & Lament Records, Memphis's Lucero deliver the kind of blood, sweat, and tears that have made them '00s roots rock darlings, road monsters, and signees to Universal Music Group. This kind of ragged-heart-on-the-sleeve alt.country/Southern rock lives or dies on the realness of its soul, and Lucero offer a walk-it-like-they-talk-it urgency to be reckoned with across the album's 12 tracks. On stand-outs like the rousing Springsteenesque opener "What Else Would You Have Me Be?" and the shattering "On the Way Back Home," Ben Nichols employs the obligatory whiskey references but inhabits each potentially cliched phrase as if he'd be joining the army or eternally tending bar in some dive (like the characters in his songs and, presumably, his friends back home) if his performances don't fly. Thankfully--via painfully threadbare vocals--they ...
| | Adult Why Bother? CD (2007)
Most Wanted
$12.95 With indie rock acts defecting en masse to the glittery arpeggiated pastures of dance-punk and electro, few bands have taken the opposite course from synth pop to punk rock. The duo of Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller--better known as Adult--have evolved from the crystalline electro sounds of their earlier work, to the strident, malevolent punk of their latest outing WHY BOTHER?
Bristling with harsh, virulent rhythms and dissonant electronics, the music's grinding industrial bombast frames Kuperus's baleful ...
