One of the most critically lauded but commercially underappreciated singer/songwriters of his generation, Ron Sexsmith made no attempts at mainstream popularity with 2005's DESTINATION UNKNOWN, an album co-billed to his longtime friend and touring drummer Don Kerr. On these 13 tracks, Sexsmith & Kerr, who share instrumental duties, are clearly inspired by brothers of the Louvin, Stanley, and Everly sort, with their impeccable vocal harmonies riding high above all else. The spare, sometimes-twangy arrangements here only serve to showcase Sexsmith & Kerr's simpatico vibe, particularly on the downhearted narrative of "One Less Shadow" and the romance-pondering shuffle of "Your Guess Is as Good as Mine."
