When rock bands include a Hollywood actor among their ranks, more often than not the results are mediocre vanity projects. However, 30 Seconds to Mars proves to be an exception to this rule, with Jared Leto (renowned for roles in FIGHT CLUB ... Full Descriptionand LORD OF WAR) capably fronting this intense pop-metal outfit. On the group's second album, A BEAUTIFUL LIE, Leto is a remarkably versatile vocalist and the band's sole songwriter, leading the quartet through potent tracks that recall A Perfect Circle and Deftones. For those who like emotive, high-energy alt-metal, 30 Seconds to Mars is sure to strike a chord, regardless of its famous connections.
"A Beautiful Llie" was produced by Josh Abraham, whose credits also include Velvet Revolver and Linkin Park. This edition includes bonus track 'Was It A Dream' (acoustic version).
Recording information: Pulse Recording, Los Angeles, California (2005).

Beautiful Lie album
$11.59 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."
Somewhat more mysteriously, Rolling Stone Ron Wood also turns up on what sounds dangerously close to a lounge version of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing," but this minor faux pas is redeemed by the Irish folk medley "Joy of Life/Trout in the Bath" which arguably features more full-on Irishness than the Dublin production of RIVERDANCE. There's also a lovely rendition of Neil Young's "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" that's topped only by Ron Wood's ...

Beautiful Lie CD music
$14.39 Principally recorded at Cherokee, Sunset Sound Studios, Los Angeles, California.
Though the band goes to every possible length to obscure it, full disclosure demands mentioning the fact that 30 SECONDS TO MARS is led by actor Jared Leto, known for such films as PANIC ROOM and REQUIEM FOR A DREAM, and twice named one of People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People." That said, charges of dilettantism would seem entirely out of order here, as all four members of the group seem entirely committed to their hard-edged sound. Stylistically, though the band itself cites such influences as Pink Floyd (whose latter-day producer Bob Ezrin is at work here) and the Cure, the more obvious reference points are Nine Inch Nails and perhaps Tool. Thick layers of aggressive guitar and booming ...

Beautiful Lie music CDs
$10.75 Metal band Lamb of God may hail from Richmond, Virginia, but their dark brand of melodic thrash pits them squarely in the midst of the European (and mostly Scandinavian) death-metal tradition. KILLADELPHIA captures the band performing live at Philadelphia's Trocadero in October 2004 for 15 tracks of pure metal fury (including six from their major-label debut ASHES OF THE WAKE) as well as behind-the-scenes ...

Beautiful Lie songs
$10.85 The well-crafted, progressive alt-metal on 10 Years' 2005 debut THE AUTUMN EFFECT proves they are one of the more promising bands on the scene. With the dramatic, tightly wound vocals of Jesse Hasek leading the way, 10 Years draw on influences like Tool and the Deftones in structure and mood, yet do not shy away from commercially viable melodies. Brooding atmospheres, ...

$11.49 The release of A DIFFERENT KIND OF PAIN is a testament to Cold's unity and resolve as a band. Parting ways with Geffen Records and losing guitarist Terry Balsalmo to contemporaries Evanescence were paltry setbacks when compared to the personal battles waged by vocalist Scooter Ward. The strife of recovering from substance abuse addiction ...

| | Kate Bush Aerial CDs (2005)
Beautiful Lie CD music
$17.75 A double-disc set that encompasses a collection of songs about domesticity (the first disc, A SEA OF HONEY) and a conceptual suite that details the passing of a day (the second disc, A SKY OF HONEY), AERIAL is ambitious, lovely, intensely personal, and marked by Bush's unique approach to music-making. The fierce edginess of THE DREAMING-era Bush is replaced by deep meditations on family life ("Bertie"), familiar chores ("Mrs. Bartolozzi"), and the cycles of time ("Sunset"). Bush's gentle singer/songwriter mode is combined with jazz, rock, classical, electronica, and other elements for a musical experience that sustains her reputation as one our most adventurous and distinctive artists.
Since the 1980s Kate Bush has shouldered the unhappy burden of having to live up to her own brilliance: albums like THE DREAMING and HOUNDS OF LOVE set a high watermark for shimmering, adventurous, off-kilter pop. In the 12 years that transpired between the releases of 1993's THE RED SHOES and 2005's AERIAL, expectations ran high that Bush had something monumental in store. AERIAL ...

$43.35 Nazz's last album was completed after Todd Rundgren had left the band.
The third and final album by Philadelphia proto-power-poppers The Nazz is a patchwork affair completed by the group's co-leader, keyboardist Robert "Stewkey" Antoni, after his erstwhile creative partner Todd Rundgren departed the group for good in the midst of sessions. Those with bad memories of the post-Roky Erickson Thirteenth Floor Elevators or Wall of Voodoo apres Stan Ridgway can rest assured that not only is NAZZ III not horrific, it may be the band's most consistent, if not best, album. Rundgren's songs are in almost exactly the style he took to his solo career. ...

Beautiful Lie Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews S.O.B.'s Okay either way it goes, I dislike the band and now I hate their guts. They are taking the Black Label Society skull and placing it on this piece of crap album. There is nothing good about it at all. I suggest to anyone who actually enjoys this crap to go off and actually listen to a band that can pull off a guitar solo. Like say Black Label Society, Pantera, Megadeth, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Anthrax, Slayer. Even Nickelback kicks it way more then this low quality band ever could. Bunch of emo cry babies. Even better than the last one - AWESOME Don't get me wrong, i thoroughly enjoyed their first release, and would even give that 5 stars, but this albumtkaes it to another notch. I beleive there's a bit more momentum with the music, upbeat in times, but still oozing with melody. i love this band, I thank my sister for introducing me to them by giving me their first CD.. !!
