(6 Customer Reviews)
On 2005's CHRISTMAS SONGS, Diana Krall applies her sultry vocals and nuanced piano lines to a strong set of holiday classics. In addition to turning in a stirring performance of "The Christmas Song" that would make Nat "King" Cole proud, Krall eases into a swaying version of "Winter Wonderland" and a lush rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." With its dynamic arrangements and pitch-perfect mix of pop and jazz, this album stands alongside other timeless Yuletide outings.

Christmas Songs album
$12.09 ALL FOR YOU was nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance.
On this salute to pianist/vocalist extraordinaire Cole, Diana Krall has a lot to live up to, presenting a group of compositions that are ingrained in the public's memory as part of a lasting legacy of both jazz and pop music. It's to her credit that she went about this intimidating task with a resourcefulness and quiet grace that make ALL FOR YOU an exceptional tribute.
The bulk of ALL FOR YOU features Krall in an appropriately unadorned trio setting, and it captures the essence of the Cole trio's arrangements without resorting to slavish imitation. With guitarist Russell Malone and bassist Paul Keller, Krall swings hard on "I'm An Errand ...

Christmas Songs CD music
$12.29 It may or may not be significant that Diana Krall's first album of new material since the ascendance of Norah Jones is the former's least jazzy, most pop-savvy album of her career. In any case, it marks Krall's biggest departure to date; THE GIRL IN THE OTHER ROOM is almost entirely devoid of the jazz standards that constituted her previous repertoire, and it contains her first recorded batch of original songs. It's possible that new husband Elvis Costello, who co-wrote all six of those tunes with his wife, was the agent provocateur. It's also feasible that Costello, who has previously recorded Mose Allison material and palled around with Tom Waits, nudged Krall toward such choice selections as Allison's bluesy plaint "Stop This World" and Waits's ...

$13.69 Diana Krall's first studio outing since she and husband Elvis Costello became the proud parents of twin boys, 2009's QUIET NIGHTS finds the jazz singer/pianist turning in a serene and pleasantly subdued set. Krall breezes through a few bossa nova standards, most notably "The Girl from Ipanema" (here gender-reversed to "The Boy...") and the title track (originally "Corcovado"), both penned by the legendary Antonio Carlos Jobim. QUIET NIGHTS isn't ...
