From `Captain Of Your Ship' in the 60s to `Shoes' in the 70s, Reparata & The Delrons were a very popular girl group on both sides of the Atlantic. Here are their hits and a selection of their album sides and rarities. `Captain Of Your Ship' was a big hit in the UK, even though it didn't chart in the US. The act was popular in the UK so should have strong domestic appeal. As well as the group's recordings this CD includes Reparata's solo outings including the 70s UK/US hit `Shoes'.Also includes the Northern Soul monster `Panic'; a massive dancefloor favourite at Wigan Casino.Sleeve-note by Mick Patrick. I had been looking forward to this very much, as the only songs I had previously heard were "Whenever a Teenager Cries" & "Captain of your Ship". What an effort! ACE should be commended enormously, as the booklet is superb and the track listing even better. 30 tracks, and not one dud. How this group was not lauded in the same manner as the Ronettes, The Supremes & the Shirelles is beyond my comprehension. Just brilliant!!

One of the truly great Paul Revere and the Raiders albums--SOMETHING HAPPENING, MIDNIGHT RIDE and REVOLUTION are the others--1966's SPIRIT OF '67 is sort of the group's RUBBER SOUL. More mature than their earlier albums, it's still got a solid bar-band heart. The opening track "Good Thing" is one of the Raiders' better singles, though it for some reason wasn't one of their bigger hits, as was the album's other single, the swaggering "Hungry."

Heads leader David Byrne directed the film True Stories, which layed out the surreal vision of modern American life often expressed in Talking Heads songs. In the film, the songs Byrne wrote for it are sung by the actors, but this album features the Talking Heads' own versions of those compositions. Though it came towards the end of their career, TRUE STORIES is perhaps the most '80s-sounding Heads album, the recordings full of compression, electronic percussion and synthesizers.
