| | Bob Marley Babylon By Bus CD (1978) Remastered
Juntos CD music
$11.95 Recorded live in Paris, France; Copenhagen, Denmark; London, England & Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Originally released on Island (11).
Remastered by Ted Jensen (2001, Sterling Sound, New York, New York).
Capturing Bob Marley and the Wailers at their creative peak, BABYLON BY BUS is a righteously grooving collection of recordings from the group's 1978 European tour. An excellent companion to 1975's JAH LIVE, BABYLON BY BUS includes energetic versions of several tracks from the classic 1977 album EXODUS as well as a sprinkling of earlier material. The album is a textbook study in reggae's sultry rhythmic power, and the Barrett Brothers (Aston "Family Man" Barrett on bass and Carlton on drums) demonstrate throughout why they are regarded as one of the most influential rhythm sections of all time. Although the majority of Marley's material ...

Juntos music CDs
$6.39 "Cemetery Gates" was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
After seven long years of almost non-stop touring, Pantera personally chose these 16 songs as the creme de la creme, the definitive live Pantera experience. All well and good, we can only hope the folks up front had kneepads and mouthpieces, because this is not for the faint of heart. This is incendiary thrash ...

| | Khaled Sahra CD (1997) Bonus Tracks
Juntos songs
$14.15 Recorded in Paris, France; Los Angeles, California; and Kingston, Jamaica.
This second album from Khaled, who's considered the King of Rai in much of North Africa, blends traditional mellifluous Middle Eastern melody with trip-hop beats, ska horn blares, reggae rhythms (some of the tracks were recorded in Bob Marley's Tuff Gong studio), adult contemporary-ish piano tinkling, and symphonic string arrangements. SAHRA is a reflection of the kind of vibe that exists in the international artists enclave in contemporary Paris, where Khaled has resided since he was chased out of his native Algeria by fundamentalist groups who consider Rai music a threat.
Rai music emerged in the late 15th century as the Moors were expelled from the Andalucia region of Spain. Modern Rai music, considered the blues of North Africa, has been banned in many North African countries because of its often political content. Teaming up with French rapper IAM on "Oran Marseille," Khaled manages to effectively communicate feelings of frustration even as the duo trades verses in Arabic and French. The closing track "Hey Ouedi" incorporates a wide range of traditional North African percussion and string instruments into a melancholic whole.

| | Love-Cars Thank You For Telling Me What I Already Know CD (2006)
Juntos album
$16.45 "The first song on the latest Love-cars offering [THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME WHAT I ALREADY KNOW] is 'Let's Start a Band,' a snapshot of a soul at a crossroads between boredom and brashness that spirals off to the self-evident conclusion, 'So let's start a band/Wrap souls around our friends/Things that make us laugh/Do our best to make things happen.' That wizened voice belongs to James Diers, a wordsmith and obvious sound addict who has never sounded so vulnerable, confused or wide-eyed as he does on these 12 tracks. Built on a bed of acoustic and electric guitars and orchestral, operatic, sonic youth arrangements, THANK YOU is a puzzle of syllables and sounds that more often than not pushes past its own tendencies toward irony into self-awareness. ... 'You & the Sound' is a lovely rumination on life and times, 'My Shoestring' is a complicated love song with darkness in its heart, and 'Friends' is a trippy reminder to seize the night. Best of all is 'How Old Are You Now?' which finds Diers at his most concise and which could stand as any generation's anti-anthem."(St. Paul Pioneer Press)" ... a poppy hybrid of Lifter Puller and American Music Club. ...[THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME WHAT I ALREADY KNOW]'s somnambulant soliloquies could verge on gibberish were they not delivered with Diers's earnest vocals. The breathy conviction Diers musters for lines such as 'Homecoming kings with scrap-metal wings' and Freudian references like 'ego-plated pistol' adds to their potency."(City Pages)"When Love-cars frontman James Diers asks, 'What's spilling out over me' during one of the many noisy climaxes on his band's riveting third CD [THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME WHAT I ALREADY KNOW], it's clear that his mess is coming from within. Diers and his band of less-than-merry gentlemen -- including Happy Apple's Dave King on drums -- apparently scoured every miserable relationship and unhappy story they could think of to make up this roller-coaster ride of an album, co-produced by 12Rods' Ev. ... [T]hese guys convincingly build up Sunny Day Real Estate-like climaxes made of guitar walls and lyrical pitfalls in 'You & the Sound' and 'How Old Are You Now?' There's a lot more sophistication than that soft-to-hard roar, though. 'Licorice' and 'My Shoestring' are lighter pop gems ... while the brilliant 'Let's Start a Band' and untitled second track recall the sweeping soundscapes of the Flaming Lips or the Doves."(Minneapolis Star Tribune)"Finding a suitable place in the world: a thankless task for the dreamer. Luckily, abstract ideas can solidify in art with more grace than reality. And if one can only follow the cautious lead of Love-cars' James Diers, somewhere amidst gravity-defying melodies and grounded, contemplative lyricism (which still manages to walk on air), the wanderer can settle. [THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME WHAT I ALREADY KNOW] just might place them toe to intrepid toe with the icy and unrelenting present tense. Diers' own sonic zeitgeist encompasses not only an adolescent yearning for validation, ...
