| | Philly Steps: Phila-La Of Soul & Arctic Records Remixed Hits CD (2004)
1949-1952 CD music
$11.99 Jamie/Guyden Dist. Co. celebrates its 50th anniversary by celebrating the artists and musicians of its past with contemporary remixes by Paul Simpson and Tom Moulton of the labels' classic hits like "Yes, I'm Ready" by Barbara Mason and "Waitin for the Rain" by the Fantastic Johnny C. Paul Simpson, whose remix of Marvin Gaye’s "Lets Get It On" Slate Magazine considered better than the original, has used the original multi-track tapes to provide new takes on such hits as, "Yes, I’m Ready" by Barbara Mason; "I Likes To Do It" by the People’s Choice; and "Love is All Right" and "The Horse" by Cliff Nobles. Tom Moulton adds his magic touch to "Waitin for the Rain" and "Yes, I'm Ready." The album also celebrates the great session musicians of Philadelphia - Ronnie Baker on bass, Norman Harris on guitar and Earl Young on drums, the musicians who became MFSB and the backbone of the Philadelphia sound of the 1970s.Tom Moulton has remixed the original multi-track tapes for most Jamie/Guyden releases on CD ...

1949-1952 album
$25.19 While MUSICALLY RICH...AND FAMOUS documents the second half of British blues godfather Alexis Korner's career, KORNERSTONED adopts a more comprehensive approach, following the pioneering singer/guitarist from the very beginning of his musical life, all the way through every subsequent phase of his development. So we get not only his mid-1960s work with burgeoning blues-rock giants like Paul Rodgers and Steve Marriott, but also his `50s skiffle recordings (basically the British version of jug-band music) with the Ken Colyer band and his own skiffle group, and even an early acoustic guitar duel with famed fingerpicker Davey Graham on "3/4 A.D." ...

| | Yeah Yeah Yeah's Show Your Bones CD (2006)
1949-1952 album
$10.39 SHOW YOUR BONES, the Yeah Yeah Yeah's 2006 sophomore full-length, was one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The band's fiery, unhinged 2003 major-label debut, FEVER TO TELL, yanked the band out of NYC clubs and onto the world stage, and while most of the musical cognoscente anticipated a sonic shake-up of some sort for the sequel, in exactly what direction the YYYs would head was a source of much speculation. Would they follow Liars into the murky depths of willfully alienating avant noise, or would they Liz-Phair themselves right into glossy commercial irrelevance?
In fact, it's neither of the above. As tracks like "Gold Lion," "Honeybear," and "Cheated Hearts" show, the band clearly isn't out to ruffle any feathers, but they're also not forsaking the infectious, art-tinged punk that got them where they are. Guitarist Nick Zinner and drummer Brian Chase are spot-on as usual, and Karen O is in lovely, if somewhat restrained, voice throughout. The production is bright and full, and enhances the glammy, anthemic underpinnings of the band's sound. And although it's not going ...
