First served up as gravy in the PRINCE OF DARKNESS box set, UNDER COVER is now available as a stand alone release, featuring several additional tracks. Putting the Ozzy stamp on Mountain ("Mississippi Queen") and Cream ("Sunshine Of Your Love") rockers seems logical enough, although some metalheads may be surprised by the lighter fare. Ozzy expresses his admiration for his beloved Beatles with two John Lennon solo cuts, as well as a poignant version of "In My Life." Also left off the earlier release but found on UNDER COVER, are Ozzified takes on Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way" and the Moody Blues' "Go Now." While shred guitar devotees may find the absence of Zakk Wylde disappointing, supporting the Ozzman are capable metal stalwarts Jerry Cantrell (Alice In Chains) on guitar, Chris Wyse (The Cult) on bass, and longtime Ozzy drummer Mike Bordin (Faith No More).
This dualdisc includes the 13 track album on the CD side, and on the DVD side, the entire album in enhanced LPCM stereo, video, and Dinner With Ozzy - exclusive footage of Ozzy telling tales of his storied career!
Ozzy Osbourne is revered as many things: a heavy-metal icon, a reality-TV star, and godhead of the longest running rock festival tour in the history of the business. The Ozzy branding is a multimedia phenomenon, leaving nothing undone - except perhaps, until now, an all-covers album paying tribute to songs near and dear to John "Ozzy" Osbourne's heart.
Personnel: Ozzy Osbourne (vocals); Jerry Cantrell (guitar); Chris Wyse (bass guitar); Mike Bordin (drums); Bogie Bowles, Gregg Bissonette, Ian Hunter, James Mastro, Jim Cox, Joe Bonamassa, Leslie West, Mark Hudson, Michael Landau, Paul Santos, Robert Randolph , Steve Dudas, Sarah Hudson, Tabby Callaghan, Bruce Sugar.

None of them are oustanding, none of them are pants, all of them bring a smile. Don't expect Iron Man Oz or Paranoid Oz and you wont be disappointed. Great but something Wyldely missing!! Being an Ozzy fan since Blizzard of Oz,you gotta give him credit for still busting his butt doing what he loves to do.But how would these songs really sound with the BEST heavy metal guitar player around today! With respect to Dimebag, these two are the last of a dying breed of great players in my generation (im 39)other than Lynch,Eddie,Randy(R.I.P).When Zakk Plays I get chills, thinking My god where did this guy come from!Kids today need to listen to these guys rather than the flatted 5th tune down to low c,and why so muddy sounding Jerry, youre NOT Zakk so dont try.Stick to your Cry Baby your good at that. But I still reccomend giving it a listen! Ozzy Lennon! It's worth the price of the CD for "In my life" and "Go Now" alone. The rest of the CD is excellent, although I could've thought of some better songs for the Oz to sink his teeth into. Submitted by thesmay (Saratoga NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Ozzy Lite Let’s face it, Ozzy has never been the greatest vocalist. But you could always count on him to put out albums full of catchy songs and heavy guitar. I was looking forward to hearing Ozzy cover such classics as “Mississippi Queen” and “Sunshine Of Your Love.” Unfortunately, these covers left me sorely disappointed. I place the majority of the blame on the production. The guitar seems to get buried in the mix by the vocals. “Mississippi Queen,” in particular, takes a great song and ruins it by bringing layers of background vocals to the forefront, drowning out a classic riff. And this arrangement of “Sympathy For The Devil” leaves me wondering if Ozzy is gearing up to make the switch to a lounge act. The whole album just feels like Ozzy lite.
