The UK pop/soul act Simply Red maintained a fairly low profile in the United States during the first few years of the 21st century, but that changed with the 2005 release of SIMPLIFIED. Issued on the Verve Forecast imprint, the album presents ... Full Descriptionvocalist Mick Hucknall and company easing into new arrangements of their most well-known songs, including "Holding Back the Years," which gets a gentle, flamenco-inflected rendition. Hucknall's distinctive voice is in fine form here, and though the red-haired frontman unveils a more subdued approach on some tunes, he showcases his passionate singing on a number of tracks, most notably the previously unreleased single "Perfect Love," which coasts along on Cuban-influenced rhythms and a celebratory Santana-like vibe.
Simply Red: Mick Hucknall (vocals); Dave Clayton, Gota Yashiki, Sarah Brown, Simon Hale, Anthea Clarke.

Amazing!! An Album i got and didnt really listen to for over a month... then one day i fancied something different and put it in the car - WOW! this album is stunning... filled with emotion, wonderful vocals and fantastic orchestration - all tracks are brilliant but "Smile" - its everything i'd say to my partner... but in a song. Funny, but... First of all: the voice of mick hucknall is great as usual and the songs are very goods -most of them classics from the band-. But I think this kind of project can be only justified with a reconstruction fo the material. And here I don't find the arrangements that make a old song into a something completly new. Sad old red is a bit more jazzy than before, holding back the years is a bit more torchy... but a bit is not enough (for me) so I don't think this album rises the geniality of Home. Anyway, nice and easy and far better from many other albums around... Submitted by laluba (Madrid, Spain) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Stunning vocals, great band WOW. Simplified shows the solid talent of Simply Red. Is there any other singer who can match Mick Hucknall? From the Latin rich 'Perfect Love' to the jazz rich 'Sad Old Red', his voice is in top form. The band is excellent, featuring a first-rate horn section and impressive keyboard work by Dave Clayton. The tunes are classics, with three new ones added. For folks in the USA, you've heard most of these songs. You just might not realize it's Simply Red you've been humming along with.
Simplified is a great sampler for anyone new to SR. For longtime fans, these arrangements bring added appreciation of the band's ability to play outstanding live music.
Shameless plug - if Simply Red play anywhere near you take someone you want to impress. They're one of the best live bands you'll ever see. Submitted by Sachie (Newport Beach, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Simplified album
$15.65 It may or may not be significant that Diana Krall's first album of new material since the ascendance of Norah Jones is the former's least jazzy, most pop-savvy album of her career. In any case, it marks Krall's biggest departure to date; THE GIRL IN THE OTHER ROOM is almost entirely devoid of the jazz standards ...

Simplified music CDs
$14.55 Daryl Hall and John Oates sold millions of records in the 1970s and '80s by fusing their soul influences with contemporary pop production, so it's only fitting that decades down the road they would pay tribute to those influences via OUR KIND OF SOUL. Most of the album is made up of the duo's cover versions of classic soul/R&B tunes. Instead ...

Simplified CD music
$16.45 While collaborating on The Cathouse Blues Band’s CD, Take It Downtown, Kurt Aemmer and Adrian Clarke discovered that they had a huge shared love of acoustic guitars, vocal harmonies, and styles of music beyond the blues. Aemmer, who had written all of the songs for the Take It Downtown CD, and several of the songs on the Cathouse Blues Band’s first CD, It seemed like a good idea at the time…, also discovered that besides being a world-class guitarist, Clarke is also a terrific singer and songwriter! The two of them decided to meet weekly to play acoustic guitars and sing harmonies on whatever songs in whatever ...
| | Rashod B Gift & The Calling CD (2008)
Simplified music CDs
$18.99 The perfect blend of old school R&B and new school soul only begins to describe the gifted voice of urban inspirationalist Rashod B. He is a God-send, driven and n his own words “predestined” to affect positive change in the face of pop culture. Darvin Rashod Brown grew up in the urban backdrop of Jacksonville Florida where street life, drugs and violence were the dramatic norm. Early on, music became Rashod’s escape as he found refuge in local church choirs and choruses. .At the age of 19 Rashod began singing in a male quartet called Two Times Two. In an effort to mimic the successes of idles, Boyz II Men and Jodeci, Two Times Two began performing at local night clubs and talent showcases. While only minor notoriety was achieved, the group setting would prove to be a nurturer for Rashod’s innate ability to write songs and arrange harmonies. In 1997 Rashod sought to turn his hobby into a full-time career. A spontaneous move to Georgia presented the opportunity to audition for several major record labels and producers in the area. Rashod’s vocal talents soon came in high demand around the Atlanta music scene. Ronnie Hudson (bassist for Isaac Hayes and Dr. Dre.) paid special attention to Darvin’s unique sound and signed him to an exclusive management agreement. While his resume grew with credits on productions by J-Boy Entertainment and Dallas Austin’s DARP Inc, Rashod began to re-examine the spiritual convictions garnered from his early choir experiences Due to creative differences, yet on good terms, Rashod ended his 2 year business relationship with Mr. Hudson and ventured out to find his musical identity. After rededicating his life and his voice to the gospel of Christianity, Shoddy B. began exploring ways to use his talent as a tool to fulfill “The Great Commission” defined by a revitalized faith. In 2003 Rashod gave an impromptu performance for producer McCormick Harris III. The two clicked and immediately collaborated on songs for the Harris’ compilation, “King Midas Presents I Got Next Vol. 1”. While the recordings that followed were received well by the listening public, they did not quite capture Darvin’s artistic vision of self. The task ...
