FRENCHING THE BULLY, the Gits' debut album--and the only one released before the murder of singer Mia Zapata--encapsulates the band's sound and fury in a way that few debuts do. The skeleton of their sound, Steve Moriarty's high-speed drumming, is fleshed out with Matt Dresdner's astonishingly flexible bass and Joe Spleen's scorched-earth guitar heroics. The real star, though, is Zapata's voice. Occasionally ragged and often spine-chilling, but always powerful--comparisons to Janis Joplin are not entirely unwarranted--she belts out lyrics that often deal with the struggle to survive in the face of internal or external hostility.

The quintet was propelled into the public eye performing at major city functions, benefits, festivals, and nite clubs. One of New Orleans Hottest R&B performers Greezy has been featured with rap artists Tim Smooth, Bustdown, Partners-N-Crime and opened for major artists Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Teena Marie, The Neville Brothers, and more. In 1997, Green founded his own music production company S.I.T.M. Music Shoppe LLC. co-producing and recording New Orleans jazz, samba, and musicians such as Michael Ray of Kool and The Gang. Greezy wheres many hats; songwriter, music production, singer, promotions and media, also visual artist.
