This second album from rockers Eternal builds on their intriguing debut with 11 tracks varying from the instrumental title track to the melodic "Everlasting" and the dark, heavy "To Drown".
The Eternal formed in 2003 from the ashes of renowned underground Melbourne doom band Cryptal Darkness. The Eternal strive to successfully combine the primal excitement and energy of a cohesive rhythm section with strong vocal and guitar melodies, and the symphonic atmosphere of layered keyboards. A wide range of vocal styles and intricate guitar harmonies gives the group its varied yet distinct sound. Their debut album for Firebox The Sombre Light of Isolation was released in June 2004, and received glowing reviews in both mainstream and underground media. The follow-up, recorded early in 2005, Sleep of Reason both defines and extends The Eternal's sound from their debut work. Less convoluted than its predecessor, it packs 11 songs into 59 minutes. Sleep of Reason was produced and recorded by Estonian guitar virtuoso Endel Rivers (Black Majesty, Vanishing Point) at Palm Studios in Melbourne, and mastered by Mika Jussila (Amorphis, Nightwish, Therion) at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki. $15.79 UNDERTOW is an example of nimble heavy metal in the angtsy/artsy tradition of Jane's Addiction. Tool favors medium tempos, which gives several of the group's songs a modern-day Black Sabbath feel, but fortunately lead singer Maynard James mostly steers clear ...

| | Accept Metal Heart CD (1985)
Sleep Of Reason album
$5.95 Accept attempted again to crack the lucrative American market with their 1985 release, METAL HEART. Like its predecessor BALLS TO THE WALL a year earlier, METAL HEART is heavy yet melodic rock. The ingredients remain the same--singer Udo Dirkschneider's rough vocals are on display throughout, as is the shredding lead guitar of Wolf Hoffmann. Longtime Scorpions producer Dieter Dierks joins the crew for the album, wisely not interfering with the Accept sound.

| | American Head Charge War Of Art CD (2001)
Sleep Of Reason CD music
$8.49 If the nu metal realm is a battlefield, then American Head Charge are locked and loaded. The Ozzfest tour gave metal enthusiasts a sneak peak at the songs included on THE WAR OF ART, and the exposure clearly left a few scorched holes in the earth, making this release among the most anticipated of 2001. AHC vocalist Martin Cock can swing on a dime from a Max Cavalera-style scream to a clean singing voice that would have Mike Patton wondering if he was genetically cloned at birth. Keyboardist Justin Fowler flavors the six-string brutality with atmospheric textures, arpeggiated techno flavors, and on occasion, gentle piano; clearly a departure from what might be expected at first impression. Production guru Rick Rubin tracked THE WAR OF ART in a mansion rumored to be haunted, and that vibe casts its specter into the mix, especially in the mosh-inspiring mantra that closes "Never Get Caught."

| | Julian Cope Peggy Suicide CDs (1991)
Sleep Of Reason music CDs
$26.99 PEGGY SUICIDE is either Julian Cope's fifth or seventh album, depending on how you count. After his fourth, MY NATION UNDERGROUND, he recorded two records, SKELLINGTON and DROOLIAN, that were intended mostly for release to his fan club--both are strange, drug-soaked sonic experiments that veer from folksy campfire songs to feedback freak-outs. PEGGY SUICIDE sees Cope reigning himself back in after those "excesses" and, though he delivers one of the most anti-commercial commercial records in the Island Records catalogue, it was also his most cohesive solo album up until that point.
Structured into four "phases," the album is a loosely connected concept album about the human-engineered and accelerated decay of the mythic Mother Earth figure. The tracks address this concept from, for the most part, a strictly personal, rather than global, perspective. Standouts include "Safesurfer," a freaky AIDS narrative with a not insignificant Krautrock influence; "Drive, She Said," a singalong about automobile pollution; "Youà," a short, charged rant against insincerity with a wicked, fuzzed-out bass line and snaky sax solo; and the staggering "Beautiful Love," a pristine reflection on just how "in love" one can be--if you hear only one Julian Cope song, it ought to be this one.
An album filled with 14 unique Tracks featuring collaborations with some of the finest names in the Hardstyle/ Hardcore industry including non-other than Isaac, Deepack, Wildstylez, Josh &
Engineers include: Hugoth Nicolson, Ingmar Kiang, Tim Bran.
