This second album from rockers Eternal builds on their intriguing debut with 11 tracks varying from the instrumental title track to the melodic "Everlasting" and the dark, heavy "To Drown". The Eternal formed in 2003 from the ashes of ... Full Descriptionrenowned underground Melbourne doom band Cryptal Darkness. The Eternal strive to successfully combine the primal excitement and energy of a cohesive rhythm section with strong vocal and guitar melodies, and the symphonic atmosphere of layered keyboards. A wide range of vocal styles and intricate guitar harmonies gives the group its varied yet distinct sound. Their debut album for Firebox The Sombre Light of Isolation was released in June 2004, and received glowing reviews in both mainstream and underground media. The follow-up, recorded early in 2005, Sleep of Reason both defines and extends The Eternal's sound from their debut work. Less convoluted than its predecessor, it packs 11 songs into 59 minutes. Sleep of Reason was produced and recorded by Estonian guitar virtuoso Endel Rivers (Black Majesty, Vanishing Point) at Palm Studios in Melbourne, and mastered by Mika Jussila (Amorphis, Nightwish, Therion) at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki. | | Dokken Back For The Attack CD (1987)
Sleep Of Reason CD music
$5.99 Although 1987's BACK FOR THE ATTACK proved to be Dokken's fastest-selling album ever (achieving platinum status shortly after its release), it would prove to be the band's last new studio album until 1995's DYSFUNCTIONAL. Growing tensions between singer Don Dokken and guitarist George Lynch reached a boiling point during their stint as part of 1988's Monsters of Rock tour, and the band members went their separate ways after a lackluster live album (1988's BEAST FROM THE EAST). Still, BACK FOR THE ATTACK still managed to contain more than a few highlights.
Dokken's instantly identifiable melodic hard rock is gloriously on display on the MTV favorite "Burning Like a Flame," as well as the dirge-like "Heaven Sent." Other highlights include the band's lone instrumental, "Mr. Scary," which showcases the guitar talents of George Lynch, as well as the album opener rocker, "Kiss of Death," which ...
| | Ratt Tell The World: The Very Best Of CD (2007)
Sleep Of Reason music CDs
$15.65 Crawling beneath the burgeoning glam metal scene on Los Angeles' Sunset Strip during the early 1980's, Ratt provided a gritty alternative to their more coifed contemporaries and were far more musically accomplished than most bands of the era. Stephen Pearcy's ...

Sleep Of Reason songs
$13.89 You knew it would happen eventually. Yes, that's right, Alestorm, a hearty group of fleet-fingered Scots, play what they describe as "true Scottish Pirate Metal." While groups like Iron Maiden have dabbled in a kind of robust sea chantey-tinged thrash at times, ...
| | Dream Theater Black Clouds & Silver Linings CD (2009)
Sleep Of Reason album
$14.44 Dream Theater's tenth long-player is about as dense and challenging as any album in the band's discography and emphasizes not only the virtuoso members' stupefying musicianship, but also their most aggressive and thoroughly metallic songwriting tendencies. The sixteen-minute opener "A Nightmare to Remember" quickly establishes this agenda via frequently thrash-paced staccato riffing, some of John Petrucci's most blistering guitar solos ever, and the return of drummer Mike Portnoy's syncopated growls, which provide contrast for singer James LaBrie's soaring melodic elegance. "The Count of Tuscany" is a heady prog-metal magnum opus brimming with more ideas, notes, and time changes over 19 minutes than most bands bother with over a ten album career. In fact, "Whither," a tender ballad and mere babe at five minutes in length, is the album's only concession to commerce. Black Clouds & Silver Linings, for all its abundantly positive ...
| | Voivod Infini CD (2009)
Sleep Of Reason CD music
$11.64 Possibly more so than any other prior Voivod release, 2009's INFINITI is all about their late guitarist (and co-founding member) Piggy. Armed with guitar parts he recorded prior to his 2005 passing, the surviving Voivod members subsequently set out to finish off these final tracks. And musically, INFINITI really is a tribute of sorts to Voivod's fallen guitarist, as his playing propels many of ...

| | American Head Charge War Of Art CD (2001)
Sleep Of Reason CD music
$8.89 If the nu metal realm is a battlefield, then American Head Charge are locked and loaded. The Ozzfest tour gave metal enthusiasts a sneak peak at the songs included on THE WAR OF ART, and the exposure clearly left a few scorched holes in the earth, making this release among the most anticipated of 2001. AHC vocalist Martin Cock can swing on a dime from a Max Cavalera-style scream to a clean singing voice that would have Mike Patton wondering if he was genetically cloned at birth. Keyboardist Justin Fowler flavors the six-string brutality with atmospheric textures, arpeggiated techno flavors, and on occasion, gentle piano; clearly a departure from what might be expected at first impression. Production guru Rick Rubin tracked THE WAR OF ART in a mansion rumored to be haunted, and that vibe casts its specter into the mix, especially in the mosh-inspiring mantra that closes "Never Get Caught."
