Gretchen In The Mean Time Songs In The Mean Time Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) fantastic I found out about this band through a back to school church event. Gretchen has kind of a hard rock sound but with a female vocalist. She has a great, one of a kind voice that I think is really good. Her songs have a meaning to them. Also, Grethen has a different look than ordinary (not saying that it's bad, I like it myself. She has blonde hair with tight braids to her head). Getting There This CD is great, lots of power and incredible vocals to back it up. There is a message in every song and it is very positive. Wouldn't call it Gospel, but positive. I think the band has some growing to do as all bands do after their first release, but this is a 5 star first release. I can't remember the last time a band's first CD was this talented. It is a well worth it buy! Submitted by Glenn (Rock Hill, SC, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
About Time This CD is awsome. It's about time we get a positive band out there that actually has substance. Evanescence never stayed true to their form when interviewed about their music. I als agree with the other review that since Moody is gone, the band will cease to exist at the same level. I heard Amy live and it was pretty brutal. Gretchen is the real deal and they deserve to have their music promoted in a much broader device. Spread the word! Submitted by Kuzzinator (Washington, DC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great Really cant go wrong with her CD, she has a lot to say and I think she is talented enough to say it through her songs. Really fantastic Submitted by Tim (Peoria, AZ, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

In The Mean Time
$11.65 EVERCLEAR, AMC's finest hour and one the '90s' most powerful albums, is simultaneously lush and searing, heartache and despair borne out in elegant arrangements that combine fragile prettiness and soul-baring howls of pain. Multi-instrumentalist Bruce Kaphan rose to the occasion of his production debut. The canyons of reverb on the instruments are strangely appropriate, highlighting the almost decadent, tragically beautiful feel of the songs. Keyboards, pedal steel, and acoustic guitars drift like abandoned ships swirling around in a colorfully tempestuous sea full of unknown nautical demons. Guitarist Vudi contributes some of the most artful, non-traditional sounds ever concocted by a "rock" axeman.
The album begins with a slow, soulful lament to a love who's either sleeping or dead, before taking up the subject of mortality more fully in the anthemic "Rise," written by Eitzel for an AIDS-stricken friend. Eitzel observes the trials of those around him on "Ex-Girlfriend," but "Sick of Food" turns his gaze inward, breathlessly describing his alienation from virtually everything and his simultaneous longing for connection. His disaffection grows more urgent on ...

| | Blindside About A Burning Fire CD (2004)
In The Mean Time
$9.29 This is a Hyper CD, which contains regular audio tracks and also provides a link to the artist's website with the help of a web browser.
At first listen, Swedish rockers Blindside might sound similar to their American pals P.O.D. However, Blindside's fourth album, ABOUT A BURNING FIRE, is their most fully realized effort to date, bringing the band's unique take on heavy rock into distinct and full focus.
Refreshingly light on the kind of screaming vocals that have become a cliche over the years (Christian Lindskog's tuneful self-harmonizing is one of the group's major assets), Blindside's anthemic rock, with its direct, uplifting message of youthful redemption, is forcefully conveyed here. On tracks such as the churning "Eye of the Storm," which comes ...
