Pete at his Pinnacle
Great collection. If you only know Pete from The Who you are missing a lot. The passion and drive of The Who is here but the songs are much deeper, personal, and reflective. Especially appreciate his frank explaination of the songs,it makes the work even more powerful. A superb job on the re-master, real clean, clear, excellent. Some "collections" are filled with fodder not here. Buy it and listen to it often. You will be impressed. The man has a gift.

Perfect selection
A perfect selection from Townshends solo-years. The material on this cd gives the listener a depth-perspective on Townshends lyrics over a periode of 24 years. Townshend gives us what we need - NO MERCY!

A True Artist
Within the Who, Pete Townshend wrote songs for the band and the audience. He was therefore limited to writing power rock songs that attempted to express the thoughts and desires of others. Solo, Townshend wrote a much more eclectic and personal mix of songs, making his solo recordings an essential extension of his work with the Who.
This compilation is a terrific overview of his mainstream releases. (There is nothing here from his awsome three album, six disk Scoop series of demos, or from any of his excellent live performances.) Although "Parvardigar" may be difficult to get behind for those not enamored with Eastern religion, every song here is excellent musically, while offering special insight into the soul of a true musical artist.

Absolutely Phenomenal
You just have to listen to Pete's solo stuff to understand "Who" the mastermind was! Taking nothing away from the other band members, because each was great at what he did! Daltrey the vocalist, Moon the drummer, Entwhistle the whistler! Pete, though, could pretty much do it all! Outside of being a bit eccentric and off the wall which many artists are, a true hall of famer "Who's" music will never cease to satisfy the curious audiophile. As good or better as a solo artist as any of the Beatles! He could have been one! His solo efforts are probably even better collectively than the "Who"!
