(1 Customer Review)
In early 2005, SoCal pop-punk act Blink 182 announced that it was going on "indefinite hiatus," and this 17-track retrospective followed later that year. The disc charts the trio's career in chronological order, beginning with their early work (recorded before drummer Travis Barker joined), including the revved-up "Dammit," which first revealed the band's teen-friendly, pop-minded potential. Blink 182 really hit a winning streak when it gained the fierce drumming of Barker and the potent production of Jerry Finn, a point proven by the exuberant "What's My Age Again?" and the sing-songy anthem "All the Small Things." Rounding out GREATEST HITS are two non-album songs, the propulsive "Not Now" and a solid cover of the Only Ones' "Another Girl Another Planet," a tune used for Barker's own reality-TV show.

AMERICAN GRAFFITI presents a powerful collage of youth on the brink of maturity just before the assassination of J.F.K.. Based on George Lucas's own teenage hot-rodding days in Modesto, California, this brilliant, bittersweet comedy inspired numerous other productions, including the long-running TV series HAPPY DAYS. Lucas's second feature film (following THX 1138), AMERICAN GRAFFITI contains an early screen appearance by Harrison Ford, who would figure heavily in the director's next movie, the sci-fi epic STAR WARS. The film follows one night in the lives ...

$10.29 With the release of Robert Altman's M*A*S*H in 1970, a new form of comedy was born, one that would help to forever change the face of cinema. Altman's audacious film reflected the American counterculture's growing distrust of religion and government in the late 1960s and early 1970s, resulting in one of the biggest box office smashes of its time. Introducing the techniques he would employ throughout his storied career--overlapping dialogue, a constantly moving camera with a heavy amount of zooming, and a bold combination of frank subject matter with cynical humor--Altman immediately vaulted himself to Hollywood's upper ranks. Based on the novel by Richard Hooker, M*A*S*H follows ...

Can's final album to feature Holger Czukay; the remaining members would make two more, OUT OF REACH and CAN, before splitting in 1979. 1977's SAW DELIGHT is also the album which introduces bassist Rosko Gee and percussionist Reebop Kwaku Baah, two ex-members of Traffic whose backgrounds in jazz and African music fundamentally changed Can's sound.
While the group was always attuned to the nuances of rhythm, the entrance of Gee and Kwaku Baah took this interest to new ...

Greatest Hits music CDs
$16.29 For Live & Learn, Vixen's first new studio release in nearly ten years, one of the few all-female heavy metal bands to prosper in the '80s continues to focus on highly commercial, mainstream rock. But unlike the last studio album credited to Vixen, 1998's Tangerine, the players are completely different. The only remaining original Vixen member left in attendance is guitarist Jan Kuehnemund (who did not even appear on the aforementioned album), who is now supported by an all-new cast -- singer Jenna Sanz-Agero, bassist Lynn Louise Lowrey, and drummer Kathrin Kraft. Although ...

| | Spencer, Paul & The Maxines Whatever Forever And Ever CD (2009)
Greatest Hits album
$18.99 The new Paul Spencer & The Maxines album, entitled "Whatever Forever and Ever", is the sound of a band immersed in 70's AM radio rock."I Was Doing Great (Before I Met You)" and "Rite On Time" are both steeped in 12-String Rickenbackers, tambourines and Beatlesque harmonies - the first sounding like Tom Petty circa '78, while "Rite On Time" is pure Byrds jingle-jangle folk rock. A tasteful cover of John Lennon's "Jealous Guy" uses a Mellotron to great effect, while horns give the rocker "Crash City" a Quadrophenia-era Who feel."Summer In the Spring", "Burning Up from the Inside" and "Top of My Head, Bottom of My Soul" combine acoustic guitar, slide guitar, Fender Rhodes and strings to create a wall of sound that is very 70s - at times, it recalls some of the work of Al Stewart and Paul Simon from that decade."The Calm After the Storm" is sprinkled with psychedelia and has an Eastern-tinged bridge; Paul Opalach's backwards guitar solo is a sonic beauty and one of the record's ...
