AXES 2 AXES showcases the talents of former Twisted Sister guitarist Eddie Ojeda.
Eddie Ojeda will always be best known among headbangers as one half of the guitar duo in Twisted Sister. But in 2006, Ojeda decided to step out on his own, and issued his first ever solo release, Axes 2 Axes. Expectedly, the material reflects the heavy metal style of his full-time band -- in fact, Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider even drops by for a metallicized cover of the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby." Other special guests drop by as well, including Ronnie James Dio on the album opening "Tonight," as well as additional appearances by Joe Lynn Turner and Rudy Sarzo, among others. Ojeda also gets to show off his six-string skills on such tracks as "Funky Monkey" and especially the Joe Satriani-esque title track. Twisted Sister fans are sure to enjoy hearing one of their top guitar heroes showcase his abilities throughout Axes 2 Axes. ~ Greg Prato
Eddie shows his chops ! This is just a good, straight ahead hard rock cd. Eddie clearly has a lot more ability than he was able to show in TS. This is a very good effort in a time when good hard rock is difficult to find. Submitted by TDJ (Houston, TX) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo This review is for a different format.
Twisted Sister's guitarist strikes gold on solo debut! As a long time Twisted Sister fan, I have been looking forward to an Eddie Ojeda solo album for years! Eddie is joined by Joe Lynn Turner (Deep Purple/Rainbow), Ronie James Dio (Dio/Black Sabbath/Rainbow) & Dee Snider (on a suprisingly good cover of Elenor Rigby!)Much to my suprise and delight Eddie handles the rest of the vocals himself. While his vocals aren't up to par with the special guests, they are very bluesy and soulful. The songs are great! Loaded with hooks, and ranging from full on metal to blues. The real star of the album is Eddie's amazing guitar playing! Every song has a blistering solo! Fans of Twisted Sister, 80's metal and great guitar playing will be doing themselves a favor when they pick this disc up! Submitted by Hank (Seabrook, NH) Was This Review Helpful?
