The 1997 reissue of THE SLIDER features 3 additional tracks that did not appear on the original release; "Cadillac," "Thunderwing" and "Lady." Although 1971's ELECTRIC WARRIOR was the first album on which all the pieces finally came together ... Full Descriptionfor marc Bolan and T. Rex, the follow-up, THE SLIDER was Bolan's masterpiece. The album on which Bolan's characteristically inscrutable, hippy-dippy lyrics were perfectly balanced with crunchy glam-rock guitar riffs and great, whomping drum fills, THE SLIDER is a masterpiece of glam boogie. It spawned two of Bolan's biggest singles, "Metal Guru" and "Telegram Sam" (the latter of which just might be the best song Bolan ever wrote). The David Bowie tribute "Main Man" and the goofy rockabilly giggle "Baby Strange," as well as the more delicate title track, are all up to that level as well. This reissue includes three bonus tracks, the surprisingly worthwhile 1972 demos "Cadillac," "Thunderwing," and "Lady" that are formative glimpses at how wildly productive Marc Bolan was during this period of his career.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.
Recorded at Chateau D'Herouville, Paris, France and Rosenberg Studios, Copenhagen, Denmark. Includes liner notes by Mark Paytress.

Bolan Will Always Be My #1
I have a tattoo of Marc Bolan from the Slider cover on the upper part of my arm...so I guess I don't have to say anymore

I first bought the lp at age 12,,,all I can say is that it changed my life forever..because of this lp, Marc led me into music and a way of life...when I hear this cd, it always brings me back to the first time I heard it and still marvel at the sound and wonder where it was all coming from,,,live on forever Marc

This is the album after Electric Warrior which had the hit Bang A Gong. though three or four songs received FM radio play when first released, there were no actual hits. Over all this is probably T. REX's most consistant album as far as song quality. All the songs are listenable with quite a few great pop rock songs and does not sound dated as many 70's albums can. My 13 year old daughter loved it @ first listen (she thought it was a new band). The outtakes on the 2nd CD will only appeal to the hard
core T. REX fans and only mildly interesting.

This ia a fantastic album from T.Rex, and prob my fav from them. I have it on cd and a first edition LP, and it still sound's as fresh to me as when i first heard it. There are fun song's(Metal Guru), sad song's(Spaceball Ricochet) & song's you can dance to and feel great (Rock On). Dont listen to the person who gave this 70's Classic 2 stars, she really seems to have missed the point of this album! 5-stars from Jon :)
