The same stylistic evolution which separated DRY from RID OF ME is taken a step further on TO BRING YOU MY LOVE, PJ Harvey's fourth album. No longer relying on the guitar, bass and drum format of standard rock, Harvey takes cues from the likes of indie instigator Trent Reznor to define the new vibe in alternative rock. TO BRING YOU MY LOVE's casual mix of organic and inorganic sounds replaces Harvey's earlier electric precision with a deadlier, more brooding sound.
Marking a departure for Harvey, she plays many of the instruments herself, creating a collage of sound that seemed impossible on past recordings. Where the material on those albums was built on driving guitar lines and band interaction, TO BRING YOU MY LOVE flavors dancier grooves, decorated with bass and rhythm patterns. The guitar is more orchestrated--as opposed to obvious--making TO BRING YOU MY LOVE a dramatic feat of arrangement and poise. Once again Harvey far surpasses even the most confident expectations placed upon her as a performer and songwriter, to produce a wholly original and daring album.
Dave’s fourth CD, The Zoomy Trail (2009) is the latest snapshot of a full-time musical career that has spanned over two decades. Infused with emotion, unforgettable melodies, and quality songwriting, this is Dave’s strongest and most personal collection of songs to date. From intimate solo performances to full band ensembles, it’s the way he hears music. A rootsy album with a variety of genres and contemporary production, cohesively pulled together by Dave’s distinctive vocal style and guitar playing. His music puts him on club, concert and school stages from New England to Florida, west to Colorado, and to the U. S. Virgin Islands. Dave creates his own style from his love of New Orleans R & B, Pop, Blues, World Music, and Country-grass, to bring a well-rounded set of contemporary roots music to the stage. In acoustic settings, he has shared bills with international acts such as Richie Havens, Toots & the Maytals, David Lindley, Arlo Guthrie, Chris Smither, Pat Donohue, and Tinytown (half of the Subdudes). Juggling dual careers, Dave is also known as front man for the highly acclaimed NH - based band (Savoy) Truffle. As well as headlining respected venues across the country, playing as many as 275 shows a year, Truffle has shared the stage with Little Feat, Phish, The Band, Blues Traveler, The Radiators, and Dave Matthews Band to name a few. Truffle’s success led to the signing of a three album deal with November/Sony records. Off the stage, compositions from his first two records (Memory Hill and Losing the Boy) have appeared on a film soundtrack and a learning video series used by the N.Y. C. Board of Education. His tune “Preston Hollow” won him a finalist spot in the John Lennon Songwriting contest. He has won countless “Best Artist” awards and a “Song of the Year” award for ‘I’m Coming Home” (Dreams of Kings) from Jam Music Magazine in his home state of NH. ...
