| | Brenda Lee Definitive Collection CD Brenda Lee Discography of CDs
(5 Customer Reviews)
While Brenda Lee is sometimes overlooked--ignored in favor of her contemporary Patsy Cline or dismissed as a singer of pop and novelty songs--this generous best-of collection will hopefully help to correct those misconceptions. Lee was one of ... Full DescriptionNashville's brightest stars in the late 1950s and early '60s, and THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION shows why. From the pop boogie of "Dynamite" (check Lee's growls at the start of each verse) to number one hits like the lilting ballad "I'm Sorry" and the string-heavy "I Want to Be Wanted," Lee proves herself a consistently appealing and capable vocalist.
Roots country fans may balk at the smooth, syrupy countrypolitan arrangements that dominate her sound, but Lee's recordings are among the best of the genre, thanks in large part to her sensual, well-controlled voice. Lee's less orchestrated recordings (like the bona fide rocker "Is It True?") are even better, and show her ability to shine in a variety of contexts. At 28 tracks, THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION shows the range and depth of Lee's talents, and as such is the perfect sampler of this important Nashville artist.

Brenda Lee Definitive Collection Songs Definitive Collection Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) One of the best collections. Brenda Lee's talent has been overlooked. Those of us who have seen her perform live over the years know that she is one of the rare talents. This child prodigy used her exceptional talents to support her family and carve out a stellar career in music that has spanned over 40 years. This collection lets you hear why Brenda Lee is the only woman to be in both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame. Miss Dynamite, indeed. She brings back lots of memories I will put her in a very special plase toghether with Patsy Cline, and some of the other country singers. Submitted by Francisco Beauchamp (Christiansted , VI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
It's About Time Brenda Lee has never had a single-volume greatest hits collection that is any more comprehensive and complete than this one is. Totally remastered, the cuts sound like they were recorded yesterday, instead of the late fifties and early sixties. A definite keeper. Good Single Disc Not bad UNIVERSAL, but you can do better. Bottom line: It's time to release a 2-disc GOLD Series collection. Include all the songs on this disc, then add Brenda's other hits like "My Echo,My Shadow,& Me" and "Johnny One Time". Let's collect ALL the hits for a change. | | Deep Purple Who Do We Think We Are? CD (1973) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Definitive Collection music CDs
$10.15 After establishing itself as a hard-rock giant, thanks to endless touring and the release of such milestone records as MACHINE HEAD and IN ROCK, Deep Purple was in a state of turmoil when it went into the studio to record 1972's WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE? Despite all the infighting, the band pulled together long enough to record seven tracks that only bolstered the band's reputation.
The best-known song, "Woman From Tokyo," boasted a riff as memorable as the one that defined "Smoke on the Water" and was later admitted by Ritchie Blackmore to have been cribbed from Eric Clapton's "Cat Squirrel." Although Blackmore's always-impressive riffing stands out on such songs as "Mary Long" and "Place in Line," this album also spotlights how far Jon Lord's contributions on organ went toward ...
