Krohm - Slayer of Lost Martyrs/Crown of the Ancients CD

 hypnotic and droning black metal
I really like this cd, its a compilation of the first two demos. Krohm plays a mid paced and depressive brand of black metal in the style of manes and forgotten tomb. The first song 'veneria's call' sets the pace for the rest of the album. It opens slowly and ends with a beautiful acoustic guitar phrase which is accented by haunting keyboards underneath. The production varies here, thhe first three tracks have a balanced sound with the drums being set back a little. The final four tracks have a rough production that has tape hiss over everything. I like the effect because it sounds primitive. Everything clicks here, this is good but you have to be in the mood for this depressing type of black metal.
