On its 2006 album, TESTIFY, the Christian nu-metal band P.O.D. gets back in touch with its rap roots, after largely abandoning them on '03's PAYABLE ON DEATH. Producer Glen Ballard (renowned for his work with Alanis Morissette and Aerosmith, ... Full Descriptionamong others) bolsters the group's already fierce and formidable sound, allowing the guitars and vocals, in particular, to jump out at listeners. Assisting the long-running ensemble are Hasidic reggae wunderkind Matisyahu (who lends his melodic toasting to the soaring "Roots in Stereo" and the Jah-centric "Strength of My Life") and the Samoan-American hip-hop crew Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. (who contribute bold rhymes to the surprisingly R&B/pop-inflected "On the Grind"). Although these tracks indicate that P.O.D. is willing to delve into various styles, the California-based band is at its best when offering up majestic heavy-metal, most notably "This Time," which stands as one of the group's finest anthems. Although the nu-metal boom had come and gone by the time of this release, P.O.D. proves that it can thrive outside of rock trends on this committed and compelling disc.
P.O.D.: Marcos (guitar); Wuv (drums).
Additional personnel include: Matisyahu, Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E..

Testify album
$9.85 San Francisco-based outfit Train have garnered a rabidly devoted following with their easy, freewheeling sound, which combines catchy hooks with the muscle of classic FM and the polish of contemporary mainstream rock. Train's 2004 live album helped summarize the band's career to that point by showcasing their instrumental chops, their confidence as performers, and the scores of crowd-pleasing tunes from albums like DROPS OF JUPITER and MY PRIVATE NATION.
2006's FOR ME, IT'S YOU will not disappoint Train's fans. In fact, the group's sunny, singalong melodies are sharper than ever here, as the album's lead-off tracks--the downtempo, ...

Testify CD music
$17.79 An ambitious double album, STADIUM ARCADIUM finds the Red Hot Chili Peppers building on their more mature, latter-day approach, while also acknowledging their lighthearted, youthful sound. The Los Angeles-based funk-rock quartet's third studio outing since John Frusciante returned to the fold, this 2006 release once again reinforces how crucial the guitarist is to the Peppers' aesthetic, with his mix of swirling, psychedelic leads and heavy riffs providing the perfect foil to Flea's bold bass heroics. (Instrumentally, the record also benefits from guest appearances by Mars Volta guitarist Omar Rodriguez, percussionists Paulinho Da Costa and Lenny Castro, and the legendary Billy Preston on clavinet.)
Remarkably consistent for a two-disc, 28-song offering, STADIUM ARCADIUM kicks off with "Dani California," an energetic track that hints at a Beatles influence, while showcasing ...

$15.35 The 2006 sophomore effort from alt-metal outfit Three Days Grace holds steady on the muscular guitars, accessible melodies, and dark themes of the band's debut. Testify songs
$11.89 Having won both critical and commercial acclaim for their debut album, HOPES AND FEARS, British band Keane pushes the hook-infested keyboard-rock on their sophomore effort in a darker, moodier direction. But UNDER THE IRON SEA features an intense, romantic brand of melancholy, with the trio of Tom Chaplin, Richard Hughes, and Tim Rice-Oxley vamping their way through vaulting rock melodies and power ballads, all without the aid of a single guitar.
There are plenty of deliciously chewy guitar-like sounds, though, that Keane achieves by feeding electric pianos and synthesizers through various effects pedals and studio gear. The album begins with the gloomy pop gem "Atlantic," in which Chaplin broods over layers of swelling synths and ...
| | Nelly Furtado Loose CD (2006)
Testify album
$12.45 On her third studio album, LOOSE, Nelly Furtado largely abandons the bohemian vibe of previous outings, opting for an energetic, club-ready sound said to be influenced by the time she spent recording in Miami. The Canadian-born singer-songwriter approaches this significant change with wild abandon, as revealed on the sensual singles "Promiscuous," a remarkably catchy dance-pop tune that features Timbaland, and "Maneater," a leering, techno-tinged track. The percussive "No Hay Igual" finds Furtado ...

Testify CD music
$11.45 The hard-driving supergroup's third album is a seething mix of rock and R&B in the grand old fashion of Led Zeppelin, and although singer Chris Cornell is no Robert Plant, the band's unified musical vision belies the usual music biz scenario of warring oversized superstar egos. The album-opening title track is a superbly confident hunk of riff-rock, and Tom Morello's wah-wah guitar pyrotechnics on "Sound of a Gun" likewise conjure heavy rock's early-1970s golden years.
There's also genuine political rage here, with the pounding beat and insistent ...

I like it... Its not really my type of music, but this one came off real well to me.. and to Roger, Snuff the Punk was their first CD, which was released in 1994, your an idiot. Payable On Death was the last album. get your facts down before you write a review/// Submitted by Our_Shallow_Grave (Where do you think??) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Testifying to the Truth P.O.D. comes out with another top-notch CD. These real rock rebels, born-again Christians, have possibly outdone themselves with this album. I think 'Testify' is as good as or possibly better than 'Satellite.' Rock for Jesus doesn't get any better than this. Jah people, ride on! Submitted by Drew (Green Bay, WI) Was This Review Helpful? This brings back what Satellite delivered earlier The title says it all. Goodbye for Now as the first single is not bad. I bought Satellite in the first place. C'mon! This album is sure not to bust! Submitted by orangegreendesolate (Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
