Personnel: Birdie Busch (vocals, guitar); Birdie Busch; Devin Greenwood (electric guitar, lap steel guitar, harmonica, piano, organ, bass guitar, snare drum, percussion, background vocals); Matt Muir, Matt Muir (drums); Jerry Klause, Jerry Klause (percussion); Joe B (guitar, slide guitar); Ivan Funk (lap steel guitar, drums); Neil Simpkins (drums); Emily Zeitlyn (background vocals). Audio Mixer: Devin Greenwood. Philadelphia singer songwriter Birdie Busch's voice recalls a younger, more innocent Karen Dalton on a set of breezy, pastel-shaded, acoustic songs that charmingly convey the joy and pain of negotiating the path from adolescence to adulthood. "Room in the City" is a warm, bittersweet romance, while the catchy "South Philly" conjures both the uncertainty and optimism of a newcomer to the big city. Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter Birdie Busch has one of those voices that draws you in on the first phrase and breathes you out at the end of the record. It's not devastatingly beautiful, brimming with venom, or capable of coaxing small birds from their nests, but it's as familiar as storm clouds in July and as easy to ingest as a small-town milkshake. Busch and her slightly funky, sometimes quirky, and always-relaxed backing band blow through 11 slices of East Coast humor, pathos, and earnest observation that treat the word "pretense" as if it never existed. From the gentle swing of "Cup" to the bluesy Randy Newman-esque closer "Room Above the City," The Ways We Try is so subtle in its execution that it may get lost among the bevy of louder, lamer, and more opulent acts of 2006, but if the business were fair, and the cream really did rise to the top, there would be one less employee doing the serving. ~ James Christopher Monger Ways We Try Music | List Price | $15.98 (You save $2.09) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Rock CDs, Folk, Singer/Songwriter | | Label | Bar None | | Orig Year | 2006 | | All Time Sales Rank | 371423 | | CD Universe Part number | 7002243 | | Catalog number | 178 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Feb 21, 2006 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Producer | Devin Greenwood | | Personnel | Devin Greenwood - electric guitar, lap steel guitar, harmonica, piano, organ, bass guitar, snare drum, percussion, background vocals Emily Zeitlyn - background vocals Ivan Funk - lap steel guitar, drums Jerry Klause - percussion Joe B. - guitar, slide guitar Matt Muir - drums Neil Simpkins Birdie Busch - vocals, guitar

AC/DC: Bon Scott (vocals); Angus Young, Malcolm Young (guitar); Cliff Williams (bass); Phil Rudd (drums). Recorded at Albert Studios, Sydney, Australia. Originally released on Atlantic (80178). Includes liner notes by Murray Engleheart. This is a Hyper CD, which contains regular audio tracks and also provides a link to the artist's website with the help of a web browser. Despite longtime AC/DC fans' immediate acceptance of replacement singer Brian Johnson (resulting in one of rock's all-time best sellers, 1980's Back in Black), there was still demand for Bon Scott-era unreleased tracks. Several of their early albums in Australia and Europe (such as T.N.T.) were later combined together for their first U.S. release, 1976's High Voltage, while several tracks were cut from the original versions and never issued stateside. 1984's five-song EP, '74 ...
| | Sarah McLachlan Afterglow Live CD (2004) With DVD
Ways We Try
$15.79 This live release captures her 2004 concert tour including over 20 songs with all of Sarah's hits. Sarah lets her fans take a glimpse at her personal life with 20 minutes of behind the scenes footage. The backstage tour will be provided by Sarah's dog, Rex. The package is available in Amaray and Jewelcase packaging.
Personnel: Sarah McLachlan (vocals, guitar, piano); Luke Doucet, Sean Ashby (vocals, guitar); Vincent Jones (vocals, keyboards); Brian Minato (vocals, bass guitar); Ashwin Sood (vocals, drums, percussion); Kathryn Rose (vocals); Dave Kershaw (keyboards, bass guitar). Like Sarah McLachlan's multi-platinum-selling Mirrorball from 1999, Afterglow Live relies on the breathy Canadian's fluid and faultless vocals and performances -- by McLachlan and band alike -- that are so spot-on that they may well have been cut in the studio. The recording follows the singer through her summer tour, a jaunt that ended up in her hometown of Vancouver -- the 15 tracks are culled from a pair of shows in Toronto. While heavy on material from the 2003 release that gives the record ...

Ways We Try
$32.85 For a man who has enjoyed the many highs of success (he has sold over 25 million albums) and suffered too many lows (of ill health) over his illustrious career, "The Road To Hell and Back Again" is apt to say the least. With a body of work that most artists can only dream of (his 11 CD "Blues Guitar" box set sold an amazing 50,000 copies!) and a tour history that is second to none, it's surprising that this is Rea's set of hits performed live. From his farewell tour of 2005, the set includes his biggest international hit "Fool (If You Think It's Over)", "The Road To Hell", "Josephine", "Let's Dance", "Julia" and "Stainsby Girls", as well as Jazee Blue" and "Stony Road", some of Rea's first rate, genuine blues.
Personnel: Chris Rea (vocals, slide guitar); Robert Ahwai (guitar); Paul Hirsh (keyboards); Sylvain Marc (bass guitar); Martin Ditcham (drums). Audio Mixer: Simon Honywill. Liner Note Authors: Simon Honywill; Dave Sinclair.
