While ZZ Top's early '70s studio albums were indeed great examples of the blues rock genre, the band's live shows were where the band really shined. On 1975's FANDANGO!, the trio issued an album that contained an 'in-concert' first side and a 'studio' second.
This was the album that catapulted ZZ Top to the summit of the '70s rock mountain, mainly due to the rowdy monster hit "Tush," which remains in rotation on rock radio to this day. Other highlights include the entire live turbo-charged first half ("Thunderbird," a cover of Elvis' "Jailhouse Rock," and the near 10-minute long "Backdoor Medley"), as well as the studio rockers "Balinese" and "Heard It on the X."

This album (Release 4) drew even more listeners to ZZ after Tres Hombres, showing a new side, their LIVE side, which is STILL legendary. This album truly shows Billy's guitar skills and the bands virtuosity as a whole, showcasing their ability to go from slow,crunchy blues riffs to live full-tilt wild boogie... and everything in between. Their age in '74 when this album was released contributes to the high-amp level on the live tracks, and that same energy got a lot of people out to see them live, and become lifetime ZZ Fans. Over 30 years old, and it is still great listening! In addition, there are cool tracks here that you won't find anywhere else, like Blue Jean Blues, Balinese, Blackbird and X. The live bonus tracks are just icing on the cake. A true classic rock album which should be in every collectors library. Each consecutive ZZ album released sold more and more copies, in part due to the strength of this release. If you are a player, just try to keep up with the changes on X! Whew! Definitely Reccomend this one. It Cooks, and shows why ZZ is,and always will be, one of the most kick-a$$ 3-piece bands in the world !!!

Don't Skip This Fandango This is prime ZZ TOP. Primal Blues and Rock masterfully cooked on a southern BBQ, dripping marinades and hot sauces. This WILL leave you want for more ... and more you will have. TUSH, BLUE JEAN BLUES, MEXICAN BLACKBIRD. This disc kick serious butt and it is as good as it gets. hilarious! i heard the backdoor medley and it was so funny. as funny as chris tucker. the band starts with the backdoor love affir song but then stops and does the gotta mellow down thing which is so funny!!! thunderbird is not bad. i liked the mexican blackbird song. tush may be overplayed but i liked it. blue jean blues is slow blues. you can either feel the pain of the guitar or you can laugh with the song. the bonus tracks stunk!. they sound like bootlegs and they are bootlegs from the 70's. anyway i give it a five. I got you covered Ruby. The live recording for this album was at The Warehouse in New Orleans over a 2 night gig. My friends and I were at both and loved every second.
