Coming at the end of the Talking Heads' discography, NAKED finds the Heads returning to many elements of the complex, polyrhythmic arrangements that marked their work earlier in the decade, prior to the rootsier LITTLE CREATURES. Reflecting a more European influence, NAKED was recorded in Paris and produced by Steve Lillywhite, who brings to bear his gift for making sprawling arrangements sound remarkably down-to-earth and radio-friendly (see U2). The album's truly special guest is former Smith Johnny Marr, who lends his imaginative fretboard work and timeless pop sensibility to tunes such as "Nothing but Flowers," and "Cool Water." Other standouts include "Blind," a bombastic groove that foreshadows Byrne's soon-to-follow solo work. Sparse, spastic, and filled with intellectual social rage, NAKED is at once a return to form and a fitting sendoff for one of music's relentlessly original and truly important forces.
This Dualdisc features the entire album on the CD side, along with a bonus song "Sax and Violins." The DVD side features the 5.1 mix and music video for "Sax and Violins" along with the "Blind" video.

Perfect Ending Hello All, This disc makes a perfect ending to this stellar series of spectacular surround mixes. This disc didn't get great reviews when first released, and I wonder why. The Steve Lillywhite production is fantastic (and VERY bright!), and the music gets really BIG with the adddition of several guest musicians. The added personel makes the 5.1 mix a very entertaining listen. In my opinion, NAKED sits just below REMAIN IN LIGHT, as far as rating the surround mixes. Another "must buy!" Thank you. Too bad... this was Talking Head's last album together, it was not a very good final album. Although there are some good songs on here, but this album looks forced. Submitted by Rob (Milwaukee, WI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo This review is for a different format.
Not like the heads, but just as good this is very different from all the other Heads albums. it has sort of a tropical sound to it. i love it because its just cool. my favorite is Democratic Circus and Nothing but Floweres.
