| | Conjunto Primavera Algo De Mi CD Conjunto Primavera Discography of CDs
The tremendously long-lived norteno outfit Conjunto Primavera (they've been making music since 1978) were still going strong in 2006. As per tradition, accordion and bajosexto still drive the music, but it's Conjunto Primavera's distinctive vocal harmonies and mix of rollicking, uptempo dance numbers and cry-in-your-cerveza ballads that have made them such a success. Thankfully, ALGO DE MI does not falter in the face of the group's own consistently high standards, making it a sure-fire bet for anyone's norteno needs.

| | Selena Live: The Last Concert CD (2001) Bonus Track; Limited Edition; Remastered
Algo De Mi CD music
$9.89 Selena Quintanilla, the late queen of Tejano music, is caught here in her final performance in Houston, Texas. More a cultural than a solely musical phenomenon, Selena provided American Latinos and Latinas with a bona fide pop star, and unfortunately their first bona fide pop casualty.
Here she works her magic on a medley of '70s Anglo disco classics before slipping into more familiar Tejano territory with her biggest hit, "Amor Prohibido" and a slew of crowd-pleasing classics. Her band is tight and adept (her brother plays bass); the crowd goes predictably wild at every opportunity. ...

Algo De Mi music CDs
$9.49 Recorded live at El Coliseo Memorial, Corpus Christi, Texas on February 7, 1993.
LIVE won the 1994 Grammy Award for Best Mexican-American Album.
Recorded two years before her murder, 1993's LIVE captures Selena just as her career was gaining serious momentum. Already a huge star in the Latino community by the time of this dynamic concert performance, the dance-pop singer was well on her way to becoming a household name in North America as well. LIVE went on to win a Grammy for Best Mexican American Performance.
Unlike a lot of commercial pop stars, Selena's slick, keyboard-heavy sound translates perfectly to the stage, and her vocals sound especially impressive. Backed ...

| | Fire! The Story Of Arthur Brown CD (2003)
Algo De Mi music CDs
$12.79 FIRE is a compilation of tracks recorded by the recording artist Arnold Brown.
Weighing in at two discs and 36 tracks, Castle's 2003 retrospective Fire! The Story of Arthur Brown is not only the most thorough Arthur Brown compilation to date, it's the only one. Even if there were others on the market, this would still be among the best because it covers his entire career, from 1965 to 1985, giving a complete picture of one of the weirdest eccentrics in rock & roll. That eccentricity means that his body of work can be a little inconsistent, both in his '60s prime and his later years, but he's often interesting even when the music isn't as strong as it was during the heyday of the Crazy World of Arthur Brown; other '60s vets also dabbled in synths in the '80s, but his experiments are as odd as his fiery psychedelia. It's true that those who love "Fire" and want more of that sound should stick with his debut album -- it will give you more of what you're looking for -- but if you ever wandered what that freak did after "Fire," this is the place to find out. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
