Recorded live at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, Montreal, Canada in 1985.
This live concert was released on a 1986 double album, Live at the Montreal Jazz Festival 1985. Pianist Ahmad Jamal and his quartet (which also includes bassist James Cammack, drummer Herlin Riley, and percussionist Selden Newton) dig into three originals, an obscurity, Jack DeJohnette's "Ebony," and a trio of jazz standards (including "Footprints"). This particular group is often reminiscent of Jamal's trios of the '50s, although with more modern bass playing and some denser piano than before. ~ Scott Yanow
Originally released as a 2-LP set.

| | Tom Teasley Global Groovilization CD (2003)
Live At The Montreal Jazz Festival 1985 album
$13.29 Tom Teasley is among the few jazz musicians who, in the 21st century, can put a fresh, new spin on the most overdone, beaten-to-death standards -- which isn't an easy thing to do when you're dealing with a warhorse that has been recorded by literally hundreds of artists. In most cases, seeing an overdone title listed on a new jazz release inspires a reaction of, "Oh, please, not that song again"; when the artist is Teasley, however, one thinks, "Hmmmm, I wonder what he did with it." There aren't a lot of familiar song titles on Global Groovilization -- the only thing on the CD that Teasley didn't write is Chick Corea's "Crystal Silence," which hasn't been recorded often enough to be called a warhorse. And in Teasley's case, seeing only one familiar title is almost disappointing ...
| | Marcelo Veiga Poplove CD (2006)
Live At The Montreal Jazz Festival 1985 CD music
$22.15 A cool and innovative music with lyrics that speak of love, a progressive rockabilly style, with energetic guitar solos, kind of like Carlos Santana and his latin rhythms, a pure extasy but still sublime. A harmonic blend that brings satisfaction through its beats. A true party of happiness and good taste.Singer and composer, Marcelo Veiga, with songs in English and also in his native language Portuguese from Brazil, with Latin solos of energetic guitars, has surprised the music world-wide scene. The kind, he defines as "POPLOVE", doing the head of passionate couples, and fans of ballads and dancing rhythms, is difficult to hear and stay standstill in the place, it's always a party. æŒæ‰‹åŠã³ä½œæ›²å®¶ã®ãƒžãƒ«ã‚»ãƒã€€ãƒ´ã‚§ã‚¤ã‚¬ã¯è‹±èªžã®æŒã‚'ç"¨ã„るラテン系ã®ã‚½ãƒã€ã‚®ã‚¿ãƒ¼ãã—ã¦å½¼ã®æ¯å›½ãƒ-ラジルã®ãƒãƒ«ãƒˆã‚¬ãƒ«èªžã§50,60年代 ã®ãƒãƒƒãƒ—ã€ãƒãƒƒã‚¯ãã—ã¦ã€ŒPOPLOVEã€ã‚'テーマã«ãƒ-ラジル独特ã®ã‚µãƒ³ãƒã€ãƒ•ã‚©ãƒã€ãƒœã‚µãƒŽãƒã§æ„›ã«ã¤ã„ã¦èªžã‚Šè‡ªç„¶ãªãƒªã‚ºãƒ ã‚'è©°ã‚è¾¼ã‚"ã 音楽ã§æ„›ã«ã¤ãƒã¦æŒã†å-œã³ã¨éŸ³æ¥½ã®é…力ã‚'ä¸-界ä¸ã«åºƒã'ã¦ã„るミュジシャンã§ã‚‚ã‚りã¾ã™ã€‚Marcelo stroll for the more varied styles and rhythms, telling about love, since ballads of the 50's and 60's, rocks, pops, gospels, specially Brazilian regionals as samba, forro, new bossa nova or even an acoustic or in international ones, always maintaining the rhythm of joy on singing the love. Marcelo was born in São Paulo city where he studied and lived up to the moment he entered the University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he moved to live, study, surf and make music. Used to listen to his father playing the piano and speak English at home from his early ages he started to enjoy the American language and music from where he received a strong influence. At College he lived together with different members of rock groups that became famous in the Brazilian music scene working as stage assistant and producer to many of these bands during same years until begun to play and sing his own music and sound. Always around an artistic environment he worked in cinema, TV direction and production until a great misfortune struck his life and made him need God. In a Christian church , he started to take ...
