(38 Customer Reviews)
Welsh heavy-metal quartet Bullet for My Valentine began making serious headlines in the metal press in 2005, and with good reason. The band combines a vintage U.K. metal sound (think Iron Maiden and Judas Priest) with the ferocity of 21st-century metalcore and the emotional angst of emo. THE POISON, the band's punishing full-length debut, finds all these elements mixed to perfect measure via top-tier production. In addition to the relentless sonic attack, Bullet for My Valentine also filled THE POISON with solid songs, a factor that distinguishes them favorably from their legions of metal and screamo peers.
Bullet For My Valentine: Matt Tuck (vocals, guitar); Jay James (vocals, bass guitar).

Bullet For My Valentine Poison Songs Poison Music Review Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews This C.D sucks The CD was horrible. All the songs sound the same and they use all of the same chords. I now use it for target practice. Submitted by bigcountry2686 (Buffalo, New York, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Hell Yeah I first saw the video for this song at my job and I fell in love with the song. So I had a friend burn the album for me. I just figured the album was going to be an all filler no killer, boy was I wrong. It's one of the rare albums I can listen 2 all the way through without skipping a song. TDF isn't the best song on here but it's what go me into BFMV Submitted by Sikkmaine (Naptown) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Tribadism FTW I would rate this 4.5 stars, but I'll round up in this case!
Ok, I found this band because one of their songs was on the radio, and my car has RDS so I looked up the song, and later got the album. I was impressed... the song that I heard on the radio (tears don't fall) isn't even the best on there, even though it's really good. They balance the screams and singing very well, all over really good metal. I look forward to seeing what this band does in the future! Submitted by garbosium (Florida, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Pretty good This in my opinion isn't as good as everyone else says it is, but it is a very enjoyable album. The screams are excellent, the singing is good, and the guitarwork is alright to. If you haven't already, check this out. Submitted by shawn (KSMO) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
cool cool cool This album was very good all around, it had not too much screaming and not too much singing.
My fave song would easily be All these things I hate, but the other songs are still excellent

Poison
$6.79 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."
Somewhat more mysteriously, Rolling Stone Ron Wood also turns up on what sounds dangerously close to a lounge version of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing," but this minor faux pas is redeemed by the Irish folk medley "Joy of Life/Trout in the Bath" which arguably features more full-on Irishness than the Dublin production of RIVERDANCE. There's also a lovely rendition of Neil Young's "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" that's topped only by Ron Wood's reappearance on a finale of the Stones' "Ruby Tuesday." VH1 PRESENTS THE CORRS LIVE IN DUBLIN is a fine mix of the band's greatest hits with a few well-chosen covers, which will doubtless reach out to ...
| | Avenged Sevenfold City Of Evil CD (2005)
Poison
$9.89 The first half of CITY cleaves to what longtime fans have come to expect: dive-bombing call-and-response riffing and furious double-bass-drum attacks, peppering cuts like the soaring "Burn It Down" and the equally ferocious "Blinded in Chains." Following the power-ballad tendencies of "Seize the Day," with its subtle piano accompaniment and Shadow's full-bodied crooning, things get really interesting. Song lengths start to hover around the seven-to-nine-minute mark, and intriguing nuances come into play, like the boys' choir and 14-piece string section that defines the epic grandeur of "The Wicked End," and the Latin jam complete with flamenco flourishes that close out "Sidewinder."
Even though Avenged Sevenfold's first two albums clearly got them lumped into the emo camp, the California quintet always hinted at the heavy metal influence of bands like Iron Maiden. With their major-label ...

Poison
$15.89 More than five years after its poorly received second album, TIME BOMB, the Los Angeles hard-rock group Buckcherry returned in 2006 with this 11-track outing. Despite only frontman Josh Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson remaining from the band's original lineup, Buckcherry sounds much as it did on its 1999 debut, channeling the Cult and AC/DC through a seedy L.A. ...

| | Bullet For My Valentine Scream Aim Fire CD (2008)
Poison
$12.89 It's not all head-forward aggression, however, as "Hearts Burst Into Fire" flirts with emo and "Say Goodnight" glosses the classic power ballad with a fresh coat of paint. Despite that, the lasting impression they leave is the acrid scent of scorched eardrums courtesy of adrenalized tracks like the warp-speed "Last to Know" and "Ashes of the Innocent." With metal splintering into so many camps, it's good to hear an act just interested in playing it the way they remember it, only faster and harder.
Welsh traditionalists Bullet For My Valentine clearly get off on the classics. While they're sometimes lumped in with metalcore acts, they're much closer to old-school American thrashers from the '80s such as Metallica and Megadeth, and harsher '90s acts in the vein of Pantera. SCREAM ...
