(1 Customer Review)
Thanks to the miracles of self-propelling online communities, and the teenage appeal of their emocore sound, Dear Whoever reportedly sold hundreds of copies of their debut EP, Sound the Trumpet, before ever hooking up with Broken Line Records. And, to their credit, the Portland, OR, quintet works very hard at exploring a vast range of emotions in their songs, such as tinkling pianos capably used in "Breaking the Silence with Your Last Breath" but shoddily performed on "We Cry Mercy," or the techno beats incorporated into "Security Without Bounds" and bonus track "A Place for the End." On the other hand, and as is the norm in the screamo/post-hardcore scene, dueling vocals -- both anguished screams and the melodic whining -- provide as much of a tension building and releasing device as a constant headache, as they constantly trip all over each other. Dear Whoever isn't above using tiresome clichés, either ("Tears of Ashes" uncorks the much-feared "I'll die for you" refrain -- groan!), but for teenagers just awakening to music and their emotions, this music may just sound like Led f*cking Zeppelin. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
Dear Whoever: Aiden Franklin, Jason Garner (guitar); Kenny Leake (bass guitar); Sam Snow (drums).
Additional personnel: Aaron Samples (keyboards).

Sound The Trumpet songs
$6.55 Featuring a minor guest appearance by Jon Bon Jovi, Cinderella's debut album, Night Songs, positions the band as a second-tier pop-metal outfit, with a mix of ballads ("Nobody's Fool") and rockers ("Somebody Save Me") one might find on an album by any similar '80s band with a high-pitched vocalist. It's not bad, just generic; the band does hint at the potential it would fulfill on later albums, but little of Cinderella's own personality shows through at this point. ~ Steve Huey
Jon Bon Jovi discovered this Pennsylvania band, whose album is filled with the kind of catchy ...
| | Three Days Grace Life Starts Now CD (2009)
Sound The Trumpet album
$12.95 The third studio album from Canadian arena rockers Three Days Grace treads familiar ground, presenting 12 slabs of the kind of reliable, accessible, and serviceable hard rock that will always have an audience. 2006's ONE-X dealt heavily with vocalist Adam Gontier's personal demons, a theme that continues on LIFE STARTS NOW, albeit with a hint of sunlight. With a sound that lands somewhere in between Breaking Benjamin, Collective Soul, and Godsmack--Gontier sounds like a less volatile Trent Reznor--LIFE STARTS NOW treats the well-worn metal themes of anger, isolation, heartache, and redemption with the kind of begrudging respect they deserve, pumping out a competent ...

Sound The Trumpet CD music
$14.29 Daníel Agúst first made his name as a singer/songwriter in the electronica/trip-hop-oriented group Gus Gus, who had quite a bit of success in their native Iceland, Agúst writing or co-writing all of the singles that became hits in that country. It might come as somewhat of a surprise, then, that his debut album is not especially electronica-oriented, ...

Sound The Trumpet songs
$24.09 2007 double definitive collection with thirty-seven classic tracks that chronicle Morrison's incredible musical journey to date, all remaining true to his mantra 'it's always been about soul'. These musical milestones are culled from five decades of prolific recording. Among the gems included are 1995's `Days Like This', an alternative version of 1997's `Healing Game' and two already-classics from 2005: `Celtic New Year' and `Stranded'. Still On Top moves seamlessly thru all phases of Morrison's long career that began in the 60s with the hat-trick of `Here Comes The Night', `Gloria' and `Brown-Eyed Girl' and still hits new heights as the years go by. Highlights from the Seventies include `Domino', `Jackie Wilson Said' and `Warm Love'. Among those selected from the Eighties are the romantic ballad `Someone Like You' (utilized for the film 'Bridget Jones's Diary') and the glorious pop standard `Have I Told You Lately?'. Universal

$13.95 It's remarkable enough that Pinetop Perkins released PINETOP PERKINS & FRIENDS mere weeks before his 95th birthday, but that the session is full of sensational playing and vital blues spirit is nothing short of miraculous.
