 A 48 Year love affair with Diahann Carroll...
When I was 18 years old I purchased the vinyl LP of (the 20 year old) Diahann Carroll's first recording: Porgy and Bess, backed up by the great Andre Previn Trio. So over 48 years I have played the LP over and over, at least once a year, and never tired of listening to Diahann's exquisite voice. In late 2008 I found the re-issued album on CD and acquired it. Although I have pretty much all of Diahann Carroll's wonderful vocal recordings, this one still is, to me, the finest and I cannot imagine ever tiring of the arrangements, her voice, the fantastic piano stylings and arrangements of Andre Previn... It's been a 48 year love affair so far, and I cannot see it ending. -- Peter.
