(49 Customer Reviews)
Texas outfit Blue October have been gaining notoriety since the late 1990s with their brand of eclectic alt rock. 2006's FOILED builds on the band's past accomplishments, and represents one of their most focused and ambitious efforts. "Hate ... Full DescriptionMe," the album's first single, shows that Blue October are no strangers to catchy, radio-ready songcraft, a quality that helps endear the group to many.
Yet Blue October are admirably restless, and seldom rely on formula. FOILED also ranges from subtle and introspective numbers ("18th Floor Balcony") to edgy hard rockers ("Drilled a Wire Through My Cheek") to electro-dance ("X Amount of Words"), making for a rock album with dimension, polish, and substance.
Blue October (Rock): Justin Furstenfeld (vocals); CB Hudson (guitar); Ryan Delahoussaye (violin); Matt Noveskey (bass guitar); Jeremy Furstenfeld (drums).
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. This band out of Houston rocks the house with their debut CD Foiled. I was pleasantly surprised that not only the no. 1 single, Hate Me, played so well, but every single track was worth the time and certainly worth the price. I will be watching these guys, hopefully for years to come. This is an inspiring and promising debut. Intelligent lyrics and kickin' music. damn good cd hate me and congrulations are the best songs on the cd. Hate me was the reason i got the cd the quidsential bad breakup song basically if u ever had a relationship end because of mistakes u made u can relate to this song, i heard its bout a girl that he broke up with because of a drug habit he had which basically drove them apart. Congrulations is basically a song from i can tell bout a guy telling a girl that he loves her finally. Its got some girl doing a duet with the lead singer of the band so its got a nice counterbalance to it thats very melodic got these two songs on my ipod right now off and on listening to the rest of the cd. off those two songs though i highly recommend the cd tho Submitted by tyler_durden68117 (Omaha, NE) Was This Review Helpful? Not That Great I was some what disappointed with this cd. I love the song "Hate Me" heard on the radio. However, the version on the cd has about an extra min. of junk on the front and back ends. I do like "Drilled A Wire Through My Cheek", but the rest of the cd is pretty lackluster. Maybe after a few hundred listens I'll like it better. | | Blue October Argue With A Tree CDs (2004)
Foiled CD music
$13.65 This two-disc live release documents a set played by Blue October at the Lakewood Theater in Dallas, Texas, in June of 2004. As such, it is a treat for fans of this San Marco band, exhaustively covering the highlights of their career up to that point. Later hits such as "Hate Me" and "She's My Ride Home" do miss the cut for being more recent, but Blue October's violin- and piano-accented rock ...
| | Hinder Extreme Behavior CD (2005)
Foiled music CDs
$9.95 It's unclear precisely which definition of their name Hinder prefer: "to impede progress" or "the outdated midwestern slang term for the buttocks." Both fit, because Hinder is an unapologetic throwback to the post-Guns 'n' Roses era of hard rock, when dudes like Poison and Motley Crue ditched their glam look in favor of a grungier "street" vibe ...
| | She Wants Revenge CD (2006)
Foiled songs
$8.55 With clanking, Peter Hook-esque basslines, none-too-subtle song titles like "Out of Control" and "Tear You Apart," and Justin Warfield's Ian Curtis/Dave Gahan-inspired vocals, it's clear that She Wants Revenge is a loyal student of 1980s British post-punk and new wave. The duo plays its catchy, slightly dissolute songs to the accompaniment of impeccable-sounding ...
| | Arctic Monkeys Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not CD (2006)
Foiled album
$11.75 Reportedly the fastest-selling debut in British history at the time of its early-2006 release, the Arctic Monkeys' WHATEVER PEOPLE SAY I AM, THAT'S WHAT I'M NOT is a brash, hook-filled album that immediately warrants music fans' attention, if perhaps not all of the pre-release hype. Clearly taking notes on the evolution of U.K. punk, the Sheffield-based band reveal the influence of revered predecessors such as the Jam and the Clash, while most notably evoking the Libertines in their youthful, hood-rat persona. On this hyperactive 13-track set, singer/guitarist Alex Turner ...

| | Barry Keenan My Brain CD (2007)
Foiled music CDs
$7.99 “My Brain” is the new release from Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Barry Keenan. From toe tapping, catchy melodies to the darkness and pain brought on by living life to the fullest, Keenan’s songs tell the tale of human existence, never loosing sight of the hope we all hold within and the growth in healing old wounds. Keenan views this release as his “stripped down” sound, but one listen tells a different story. Having grown up with the Beatles and having been heavily influenced by their sound, Keenan’s songs speak in Lennonesque life narratives. Heartfelt lyrics call for the listener to connect with body, mind and spirit as they bask in the light of an instrumental tapestry of Keenan’s own creation. Having served as Artist, Engineer and Producer on “My Brain”, Keenan supplies all the instrumentation and vocal harmonies. His crisp production values provide a top quality canvass for Keenan’s own poetic prose. His left and right brain functions work in tandem like a cranial “Simon & Garfunkel” songwriting team tucked away in his psyche, each side simultaneously fueling the other, delivering his well-crafted compositions. As a singer-songwriter Keenan played the coffeehouse and pub circuit building his repertoire to include an array of well received original compositions. As his writing matured he recorded several solo outings. Though they were well received by the press and other musicians, a recording contract eluded him. Keenan signed several publishing deals including one with Peer Southern and another with Warner Chappell Music Publishing. He even held a recording contract with A&M records, albeit short lived. Keenan supplied songs and his production prowess to the soundtrack of The Jean Claude Van Dame film “Kickboxer”. Still he had no product of his own on the market… Years later, while playing the rock circuit in Los Angeles, Keenan finally landed a label deal with his band “Invisible Poet Kings”. Their song “Clean White Shirt”, a Keenan/Palmer composition, became a most added song on Sirius ...
