Leslie West first picked up a guitar in anger as it were in the sixties when he was a member of the Vagrants. The Vagrants were just one of many bands on the club circuit on Long Island during the sixties. Two other bands were the Young Rascals and The Hassles, which featured a young Billy Joel. Many people however will remember Leslie West as a founder member of Mountain alongside Felix Papalardi and long time (although not founder) drummer Corky Laing. In fact, aside from a short period of time during the seventies when West was a member of West, Bruce and Laing alongside Corky and former Cream bassist Jack Bruce, Mountain has taken up a large part of Leslie's time. His first solo album entitled Mountain led to the formation of the band of the same name. Leslie West Theme Songs | 1. | Talk Dirty |

| | Kenny Dope Presents Randy Muller's Be CD (2005)
Theme
$16.45 KENNY DOPE PRESENTS: Randy Muller’s BestShortly after receiving the final mixdown of this album, I slipped it into the CD player at a gathering of friends and family. I don’t think anyone present could’ve identified the man responsible for the sounds that filled the room, but as the procession of classic compositions progressed, from the chugging “Express” to the shoulder-stretching “High” to the buoyant “Here’s To You,” the exhilarating effect of his work was unmistakable. Randy Muller is accorded universal respect by dance music aficionados, and this collection shows why. Beginning in the ‘70s funk era and climbing the dizzying heights of disco, Muller sculpted a string of club and radio anthems, his innovative arrangements setting trends that continue to be emulated today. Never claiming the spotlight, the affable multi-instrumentalist was the unheralded force behind numerous hits. From his groundbreaking work with B.T. Express we hear “Express,” a tune so powerful that James Brown was compelled to create an answer record, and “Peace Pipe,” an anthem that still features prominently on the airwaves. Muller’s highly influential group Brass Construction contributes three dance floor essentials with “Changin’,” the Latin funk “Ha Cha Cha” and the much-sampled groove “Movin’.” The beloved Skyy, a virtual embodiment of the sound of New York City, are represented by no less than four hits, with the chart-topping “Call Me” leading the way. Rounding out the set are Raphael Cameron’s top ten R&B hit “Boogie’s Gonna Get Ya” and a rarity from Funk Deluxe. Providing the creative impetus for this compilation is new-school legend Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez, who joined forces with Muller to revisit the original master tapes of the vintage recordings. Their respectful remixes honor the original vibe while updating the fidelity to give these essential dance mastercuts a newfound clarity and depth.Good music is timeless and stands outside of trends and context. This superb collection ...

Theme
$12.15 Publisher's Weekly has said that Oakland based writer Garrett Caples is "straddling the line between a Syd Barrett stream-of-sweet-nothings and the bachelor-machine eroticism of Duchamp." Of his work, the poet Jeff Clark was once heard to say: "Caples is a polymath."He is also, in no particular ...
| | Claire Tchaikowski Those Thousand Seas CD (2009)
Theme
$18.99 "Tchaikowski has this rare ability to draw us into the singer's private emotional terrain, with stories that feel like she's been eavesdropping on the listener's hopes and heartaches."
Says Steven Gaydos, Executive Editor of VARIETYClaire was born and grew up at the foot of the Alps in Switzerland, of Irish and a quarter Polish descent. Her songs are infused with the epic landscapes of both Ireland and Switzerland. She moved to London in 1998, to study music. A lot of songwriting and band practice later, she met producer and founder of Ambiguous Records, Al Mobbs, who began defining the sound of her record, and co-writing songs. And they drank a lot of tea in Al's kitchen. After working together for a short while, Claire met legendary producer Mike Hedges, who has mentored and supported her since. He recently produced her debut album, Those Thousand Seas, also co-writing several tracks, along with Al Mobbs producing on two tracks. Other co-writers include Al, Sally Herbert (who arranged all the strings), and Shelly Poole (ex Alisha's Attic). Those Thousand Seas is an independent release, and Claire is loving introducing her album to you.Scott G from Music Industry Newswire says:"REVIEW: These Thousand Emotions — Have you ever thought about what is inside the sounds you like to hear? Harmonics and overtones are in there, for a start, but it can go way beyond that with some artists. A few special people are able to capture raw emotion and inject it into notes and chords. Such an artist is Claire Tchaikowski. On her quietly propulsive album “Those Thousand Seas”, listeners are presented with ten exquisite songs that are a wonderful blend of musicianship, poetics and passion. The effect is akin to swimming through a 200-proof cocktail. The title track wasn’t playing for more than sixty seconds before I was being pulled in two directions; on the one hand, bliss, but on the other, an upsurge of adrenaline. This dichotomy continued for every minute of the album all three times I played it.First of all, the sonics are exquisite and the production by Mike Hedges (The Cure, Dido) is spectacular. Second, with Tchaikowski’s ethereal vocals, you can relax and simply float along on a musical excursion seemingly through the core of a young artist. Yet percolating underneath each well-crafted track is a torrent of feeling. “Those Thousand Seas” proudly presents a multiplicity of sensations: love and longing, joy and loss, knowledge and awe.My apologies if my words seem to be overselling this album. I recognize that part of the pleasure awaiting you with this new work lies in discovering these delights for yourself. But still, I’d like to be the first to say that the last time I had such a reaction to an album was with work by Peter Gabriel. This doesn’t seem to be a generational reaction; I played the first four tracks for my son, who said it was okay and then paid it his highest compliment by asking if he could borrow it to play the rest.I could go on but I will only ...
