Leslie West first picked up a guitar in anger as it were in the sixties when he was a member of the Vagrants. The Vagrants were just one of many bands on the club circuit on Long Island during the sixties. Two other bands were the Young Rascals ... Full Descriptionand The Hassles, which featured a young Billy Joel. Many people however will remember Leslie West as a founder member of Mountain alongside Felix Papalardi and long time (although not founder) drummer Corky Laing. In fact, aside from a short period of time during the seventies when West was a member of West, Bruce and Laing alongside Corky and former Cream bassist Jack Bruce, Mountain has taken up a large part of Leslie's time. His first solo album entitled Mountain led to the formation of the band of the same name. Hide Description Leslie West Theme Songs | 1. | Talk Dirty |

$14.29 Twenty-two years after Bob Marley's death, REGGAE GOLD 2003 proves that the state of reggae music continues to be bright and vibrant with talented performers continuing to come up through the ranks to challenge established superstars. Among the known names popping up on this compilation are Beres Hammond (with the infectious lover's rock of "360 Turn"), Sizzla (the loving roots-rock ballad "Thank U Mamma"), and Bounty Killer (the crackling dancehall braggadocio of "The Greatest").
Other vets making the cut include Shaggy with Brian and Tony Gold (a tango-themed "Hey Sexy Lady"), Morgan Heritage (the R&B-flavored "She's Still Loving Me"), and Buju Banton (who lovingly delivers the harmony-soaked sweetness of "One to One"). Among the year's shooting stars is red-hot Sean Paul, who flies solo with the crossover smash "Get Busy" and teams with Busta Rhymes and Spliff Star on the clattering remix of "Make It Clap". Wayne Wonder, 2003's other reggae success story, also checks in with ...
| | Blossom Dearie My Gentleman Friend CD (1959) Remastered; Digipak
Theme album
$9.65 Another in the superior series of LPs Blossom Dearie recorded for Verve in the late '50s, MY GENTLEMAN FRIEND finds the cabaret-jazz maven joined by guitarist Kenny Burrell and her husband at the time, Belgian saxophonist-flutist Bobby Jaspar, who accompanies Blossom on just a few French-language tunes--"Chez Moi," the swinging "Boum," and a lovely impressionist ballad called "L'Etang," all of which she manages with aplomb. Dearie always chose her reperoire carefully so there are almost no typical standards here. Still she excels on Cy Coleman's "You Fascinate Me So," with its deft, witty lyrics by the ...
| | Kenny Dope Presents Randy Muller's Be CD (2005)
Theme CD music
$14.29 KENNY DOPE PRESENTS: Randy Muller’s BestShortly after receiving the final mixdown of this album, I slipped it into the CD player at a gathering of friends and family. I don’t think anyone present could’ve identified the man responsible for the sounds that filled the room, but as the procession of classic compositions progressed, from the chugging “Express” to the shoulder-stretching “High” to the buoyant “Here’s To You,” the exhilarating effect of his work was unmistakable. Randy Muller is accorded universal respect by dance music aficionados, and this collection shows why. Beginning in the ‘70s funk era and climbing the dizzying heights of disco, Muller sculpted a string of club and radio anthems, his innovative arrangements setting trends that continue to be emulated today. Never claiming the spotlight, the affable multi-instrumentalist was the unheralded force behind numerous hits. From his groundbreaking work with B.T. Express we hear “Express,” a tune so powerful that James Brown was compelled to create an answer record, and “Peace Pipe,” an anthem that still features prominently on the airwaves. Muller’s highly influential group Brass Construction contributes three dance floor essentials with “Changin’,” the Latin funk “Ha Cha Cha” and the much-sampled groove “Movin’.” The beloved Skyy, a virtual embodiment of the sound of New York City, are represented by no less than four hits, with the chart-topping “Call Me” leading the way. Rounding out the set are Raphael Cameron’s top ten R&B hit “Boogie’s Gonna Get Ya” and a rarity from Funk Deluxe. Providing the creative impetus for this compilation is new-school legend Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez, who joined forces with Muller to revisit the original master tapes of the vintage recordings. Their respectful remixes honor the original vibe while updating the fidelity to give these essential dance mastercuts a newfound clarity and depth.Good music is timeless and stands outside of trends and context. This superb collection certainly proves that, and will undoubtedly bring the name of the talented man behind the sounds a bit of much-deserved recognition. In closing then, a toast to both Randy Muller and to the fortunate listener: Here’s to you!- Andrew “Monk” MasonWBAI-FM / Wax Poetics MagazineMarch, 2005Randy Muller was classically trained. As Michael Caine might have said in Alfie, 'Not a lot of people know that'! LOL His drive behind the Brass Construction machinery cannot be denied. He went on to be the driving force behind other 'walls of sound'. You get that here with several collaborations with the likes of B.T Express, Raphael Cameron, Funk Deluxe, Skyy and his homeboys. What is lovely about this set is Kenny Dope hasn't messed with the sound too much. Just enhanced it. Each track runs into the next one. When I listen to todays cars driving by, with a sound system bigger than anyone really needs in a dancehall, playing some awful sexist rap track, 'performed' by a guy whose only claim to fame is he was shot several times (and I wonder why!), doors nearly falling off (and that's just in our house!), they ...

Theme CD music
$12.15 Publisher's Weekly has said that Oakland based writer Garrett Caples is "straddling the line between a Syd Barrett stream-of-sweet-nothings and the bachelor-machine eroticism of Duchamp." Of his work, the poet Jeff Clark was once heard to say: "Caples is a polymath."He is also, in no particular order, an essayist (he's published long, sometimes notorious evaluations of Barbara Guest, Will Alexander, John Yau, Joe Brainard, Barrett Watten, Eliot Weinberger, Charles Bernstein, among others); with his partner Anna Naruta he's the maker of films, documentaries, music videos; with Naruta he's also the publisher of Kolourmeim Press; recently he produced a cd of boogified electronica entitled Lee ...
