| | Diana Ross Definitive Collection CD Diana Ross Discography of CDs
(2 Customer Reviews)
At a mere 20 songs, a Diana Ross collection claiming to be 'definitive,' is immediately suspect. Is it possible to define one of pop music's most iconic divas in the space of a single CD? Motown's DEFINITIVE COLLECTION tackles the problem first ... Full Descriptionby excluding Ross's work with the Supremes and focusing only on her solo endeavors. The album also opts for singles over choice album cuts, and while the selection might not pass muster with diehard Ross fans, it provides a solid introduction to the singer's peak moments.
Recording information: 1970 - 2006.
Naturally, the #1's are here: "Touch Me in the Morning," "Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)," and her duet with Lionel Richie on "Endless Love," among others. Ross's pop-funk hits are faithfully represented ("Upside Down;" "Love Hangover"), as is her essential duet with Marvin Gaye on "My Mistake (Was to Love You)." In short, while the album may be too brief, every song here is a glittering gem, underscoring the Motown diva's rightful place in pop music history. Universal needs to release Diana Ross: Gold. BUT, do it right. The Supremes are well-documented, so start the set with DR's first solo hit AND include ALL her hits (even RCA hits)up to now. And don't half-step. Do your research (I'm available for consultation!).

Motown ALMOST Got It Right Sound Quality is Wonderful, However where is CHAIN REACTION? Great to get the full 6:06 version of Mirror Mirror, but Full Versions of Love Hangover, The Boss , Swept Away , Ain't No Mountain High Enough would also be a PLUS, Did enjoy the 4:10 version of Mt. Maybe When Diana Ross : GOLD is released they can include the above mentioned with Remixed Version of Reaction , Also what about Remastered Release of BABY IT'S ME? Soon Jeff Post, who had played drums in Noah's Dove and the Hype joined the lineup bringing guitarist Shane Brennan (Ghoststory and Noah's dove ) with him. | | In Fervor Onward Downward CD (2007)
Definitive Collection album
$8.39 In Fervor makes music.Onward Downward was recorded in New York City, in the borough of Brooklyn to be exact. In their delightfully filthy studio, packed with gear, complete with complimentary buckets of rain water from the less than trustworthy roof, In Fervor toiled, away from hipster hangouts and seducing trends as 2006 came and went. Two pints of blood, a gallon of sweat and forty thousand cups of green tea later, they emerged, pale and under-fed, with the thirteen songs collectively known as Onward Downward. In Fervor makes music. It is music with the intensity of Black Sabbath, the raw emotion of Nirvana and the lyrical earnestness and depth of Nick Cave. It is music, further, that seemingly does not attempt to be anything other than what it is, created as if for its own sake, charting a course dictated by nothing other than itself, without pretense. What is discovered and unearthed here is limited only by the audience’s willingness to not only hear, but listen. And listening, the audience will discover music crafted with passion, layered with roaring emotion and whispered sentiment, created in such a way that each time listening is like the first, a step into ever different waters. Onward Downward is the title of In Fervor’s latest trip, simultaneously unique and familiar, personal and universal, with thirteen embedded journeys, each in their own right, each as part of the whole. The searing opener of Ground to Air pushes forward and pulls us in like one in search of an answer to an urgent question, through lonely valleys and mountainous highs like the whole album itself. ...
