The young New Orleans trumpeter Christian Scott combines jazz and hip-hop to smoothly sophisticated effect on this sophomore, Grammy-nominated 2006 set. His accomplished solos are underpinned by a supple, sympathetic band that conveys late-1960s Miles Davis in its determinedly after-hours feel. The smooth jazz tendencies hinted at on "So What" are undercut by the spare colorations of the title track and the tense undertones of "Suicide," while on "Paradise Found," Scott and ensemble show that they're also capable of a finely understated lyricism.

this cat can blow and wish he had some more projects comming out. i'm 30 and used to listen to rap and r&b. but all of that is dead with nothing good, but this cd is hot and it's a change for me and my listening pleasure. keep blowing mr scott

5 stars It Never Fails
Just when you think it is over, along comes a group that replaces the one's you thought were irreplaceable. Everyone on this CD is kicking, but Pridgen(the drummer) is the driving force. Reminds me of a young Tony Williams with you know who.

5 stars something fresh
since this albums debut ive been on the lookout for these guys and even got to see a couple of them performing live. they have an awesome sound that goes far beyond the label of 'jazz'. every song on this album tells a story and its got more soul than i've heard in a while. highly recommended.

Christian Scott shows great deal of mastery as a trumpeter with his unique style.Since I bought this CD I have listened to it numerous times. I'd recommend this CD to every jazz lovers out there that have an ear for REAL talent.
